Train length?

JJ12, on February 8, 2021 at 6:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Has anyone shortened or contemplated shortening their train? I love the look but the closer my wedding gets the more I’m worried about the hassle of a long train ( the weight of it, walking, repositioning for pics etc). It’s a decently costly alteration and I can’t decide if it will be worth it. For info- my wedding is outdoors / garden type venue next to a beach. Train length? 1

I actually did have my train shortened. I loved the look of the train but it was just too long for our wedding so I had it shortened to just barely drag the floor.

I’m torn- that train is gorgeous! My heart is saying NO- DON’T DO IT! Where my mind is being practical- shorten the train for easier movement or buy a reception dress.

I’m planning on having my train removed! I don’t like how bustles look, it’s heavy, and my ceremony is outside. For most of the evening, it would be in a bustle and it would be dragging in the grass for the other part. I also don’t want anyone to be stuck fixing it every time I move for photos. No thank you.

Definitely weigh your options and really think about the look you want and the costs.

Wow that is a gorgeous dress and the train is amazing! I would keep it and maybe bustle it or add a wrist loop.

I LOVE my train and would never shorten it. Yours is gorgeous! Dont shorten it imo. I’m doing a second dress for dancing.

I think that’s beautiful as is. Unless you dramatically shortened the length, it won’t make a difference in the heaviness. If you have bridesmaids, this is one of their task, to assist you on your wedding day.

Thanks, that’s good insight. If it’s not saving me that much heaviness then not much point!

My vote is to keep it!! It’s stunning. My dress has a similar dramatic train, but it’s so lightweight I barely even feel it, so I know a bustle isn’t going to feel heavy. I’d agree with the comment saying if it’s not heavy, it’s not worth shortening Smiley smile I personally think a little bit of annoyance in having to fix it every time you move while it’s un-bustled is worth it, I couldn’t stop staring at mine while I was trying it on lol! When am I ever going to get the chance to wear something like that again?

Oooh I wonder if you could add both!! A wrist loop or some easy way to carry around your extra train for photos, and then a full bustle you could do for the reception!

I think it's really smart that you're thinking about your mobility and comfort on the wedding day - but that train is sooo gorgeous!! Smiley love
