Traditional makeup vs. Airbrush makeup?

Jodie, on September 18, 2019 at 1:38 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 5
I can’t decide which type of makeup to use for my wedding day. The salon I’m using offers both. I don’t have the best skin so I need a lot of coverage. Which did you use/ what are you using?
Thank you!

I used traditional. My makeup artist said they don’t like using airbrush because it tends to cling to problem areas on dry skin. But if your skin is more on the oily side it should be fine!

I used traditional. I've had airbrush done and wasn't a fan. It clung to dry skin and my imperfections and didn't cover as well.

I've had both and for the wedding I prefer the traditional over airbrush. Although my make up was amazing and my pictures turned out wonderful the airbrush make up felt extremely cakey.

I prefer airbrush because it has better staying power, better coverage, and doesn't streak if you cry or sweat. However, if you have dry skin (which I do) you will need to prep your skin a couple of months ahead of time with a skin care routine that adds extra moisture (otherwise it can flake and not set well). My HMUA recommend Radha Rosehip Oil which I began using at my trial in October for my wedding in December. By the time my wedding came both my HMUA and I noticed the difference. At my trial, my skin was a little flaky with the airbrush makeup but I didn't have that problem at my wedding. In fact, even though I was 41 on my wedding day, my skin looked radiant. Here are some pics of me throughout the day of my wedding so you can see how long it lasted. It still looked so good by the time I went to bed I didn't want to take it off and actually still had my makeup on the next day at my farewell brunch.

I had airbrush done for my engagement pics and it was amazing. I was definitely hesitant at first but it felt so light and looked beautiful. My makeup artist also told me it looks better in pictures and lasts longer!
