Traditional and Mail-in Rsvps

Morgan, on May 31, 2019 at 9:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 11
Out of curiosity, for those who gave guests the option to submit their RSVPs online or to mail them in, which did they do more of? Obviously it could vary depending upon who your guests are, but was one option overwhelming used over another, or was it 50/50?

We gave everyone both options. Most of our crowd is young, but surprisingly, most people mailed them in. Maybe 30% used the website

Honestly I do not know if it is my crowd of guests or what but so many were god awful at rsvp'ing properly or at all. A lot of them felt like they could just tell us rather than formally rsvping. Especially older adults we gave paper invites too just verbally told us. I gave older adults paper invites who also do not speak english and emailed invites out to anyone that was young or american. However I will say that the email invites people did mostly follow through and answer.
Just expect that some people may be really unresponsive and that you may have to track them down for an answer regardless.

We addressed and stamped each RSVP card envelope, and the RSVP card said it could also be done online and we put our link. So far, we have received 144 RSVPs back. I'd say 90% of them were the physical paper RSVPs, and the other 10% were online.

I wanted to do both but honestly I can’t even get people to look at my website and they ask me so many questions. My registry is online and people aren’t getting it. So I decided just traditional .

I'm afraid to do online RVSP's because it's too easy for people to mindlessly fire them back. Later, if they realize they already have plans, they may forget to rescind their "yes" to the wedding. It happens all the time with FaceBook invites. People reply "yes", then don't show up. Or, just as bad, they say "maybe" then don't confirm but show up.

If someone takes the time to send their paper RSVP back, they usually think about their response before sending it.

Thanks for the feedback, though I’m my case I’ve already given people the option to do both since some told me the prefer online, and others said traditional. My question was more to people who have done both to see if one was more widely use than the other

Wow! That sucks. if that’s the case, do you think those people will really go out of their way to go to the mailbox rather than take two minutes to RSVP Online?

Interesting! Does your guest list skew older or younger?

Oh wow that’s crazy! Maybe they felt that since you spent money on the stamp they should mail it.

I think they will because it’s a lot easier for them. If not I’ll be on the phone asking.

For sure more younger, than older!
