Trader Joe’s Wine

Jessica, on September 15, 2018 at 8:32 PM Posted in Planning 1 7

Hi guys, I’ve noticed some ladies talking about having bought their wine for their wedding from Trader Joe’s for $2.99 a bottle and loving the taste. I was hoping to get some feedback from anyone who’s tasted the wine as to which are the best? We like more of the sweet reds and whites. There’s one about 4 hours away from us and we’re considering making the trip so any input would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't gotten married yet but we are planning on getting our wine from Trader Joe's. Our friends recently got married and they had a mix of two whites and two reds from TJ and it was a hit.

Before they chose their wines they had done a blind taste test party with a big group of us and three buck chuck won hands down even though it was the cheapest. It's a long drive but if you happen to go near one from any reason it's great, be ready to stock up on snacks and treats...totally not wedding related.

I'm sorry I don't have recommendations for which ones are best if you like sweet since both of us lean towards dry but the red blend is a solid choice.

Charles Shaw is their $2.99 bottles which aren’t bad. The Chardonnay is on the lighter side (not very buttery) which is nice & people who like white wine would probably prefer Chardonnay. For reds, I’m not sure if it’s better to get Merlot or Cab.

I love Zonin Prosecco which you can get at Trader Joe’s for $6.99. For me, it beats many $10-$15 ones!

Our Trader Joe's (and I assume all locations) has a lot of wines from local wineries and your typical ones for super cheap prices. I would definitely say buy your wine from them!

Hi Jessica! As a huge wine gal over here, I love Trader Joe's wine selection!! The $2.99 wine is surprisingly delicious! Since you all like the sweeter ones, I would suggest maybe a White Zinfandel and a Cabernet Sauvignon for the red! Also they have other brands that are still under $10 that you should try as well!

Not sure if every Trader Joe's is like this, but the guy who usually works in the wine section is super helpful! I have only been in there about 3-4 times, but he always remembers me and chats with me about what new wines they have in stock and what his favorites are. In addition to recommendations on here, I would ask the employee as well for recommendations. They also have (on Saturday's I think) wine tastings, so you could maybe call and see if your Trader Joe's does that as well!

Has anyone purchased the trader joes wine bottles as wedding favors and found good custom sticker labels to cover the TJ label?

$2 Chuck is my go to when we host parties and people are usually shocked when I tell them its Trader Joes wine! This is actually our plan for our wedding as well.

I dont really drink white wine, so Im no help there (I have heard the White Zin is bad though so maybe not that?). As far as reds go, their Cab is pretty sweet in my opinion. The Shiraz is really good too, probably my favorite out of those.

I definitely suggest going in with a "price per bottle" budget and checking out some of the other offerings. They have SO MANY options that are under $10 which are very very very good, I end up finding a new favorite every time (I may or may not be on a first name basis with the wine guy in our store). I would call the store before hand and ask if you can buy it by the case as well, our store does (we live in a big metro area though) and it saves us like 10% each time. Im not sure if thats standard or just something our stores does though!
