Tourist Honeymoon

Chelsea, on November 21, 2019 at 4:50 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

Hi!

We have never been out of the country(USA) and are looking at getting our passports. We are getting married in July and we have no idea where we want to go. We both are busy bods and like to site see and try amazing food. We both agree we don't think a beach or cruise honeymoon is a good idea. Where to go, what to see?

Thanks!

FH and I are looking into the Philippines! We know a few people from work who have gone and go every year and it looks amazing as well as cheap to stay there.

FH and I LOVED our trip to England last year. There's a ton to do and see in London like shows, museums, great food, Warner Brothers Studio tour, the list goes on. We also really enjoyed the time we spent in the Cotswolds, which are the rural towns in the west of England that are filled with charming BnBs and tea shops. Since it was my first time out of the country, it was also great to travel somewhere I knew everyone would speak the same language and we could get around easily. Paris is only about a 90 min train ride from London, so its also super easy to do both in one trip (we just didn't have time).

I know you said no cruise - but a European/Mediterranean cruise is SO different from something tropical. We went on one a few years ago that made stops in Greece, Italy, France and Spain and there was tons of sightseeing all day at every port and had only 1 day at sea which was very relaxing and nice. I see good deals for those on Travelzoo quite often!! (sign up for their weekly top 20 email list!) Nice because we got to see SO many place and historical stuff but only had to unpack once and got to hang out at sea every nightSmiley smile

Highly recommend Italy - you could do Rome and the Amalfi Coast - Sorrento is BEAUTIFUL.

Prague, Vienna and Budapest is a really good trip - tons of good food and sightseeing/history but definitely cities that you could see everything and only stay for 2-3 nights each. And they're close together. Again, I see trips like this on Travelzoo all the time!

Rome was AMAZING especially if you’re catholic or religious.
Paris is on my bucket list, it has a lot of history.
London was also fun, but not as fun as Rome.

Italy!!! Rome, Venice, Florence, Siena. So many beautiful places to see!!!! I was there for two weeks about 3 years ago and wish I could have stayed forever. So much to see and so much to do. Not to mention, you can’t beat the food and wine!!

    Hey - we graduated together!

Any-who, FH and I have never been out of the US either. Shortly after the wedding, we are planning to do a little honeymoon, and then have a bigger honeymoon once we get new licenses for flying and our passports and can save more money. What type of food do you like? We really like Italian food so we will likely try to go to Italy! But part of me wants to go to as many places as possible since we haven't been out of the US before, so we may go to Italy and then take a train to France and Germany or elsewhere. It's definitely hard to plan when you don't have a specific place in mind. Good luck!

Omgosh we did! Hey girl!! When do you get married? Yeah we are doing a 2 year engagment to save up money for the wedding and honeymoon. We like to travel and do something every year but never left the country so we plan to get new licenses and passports next year since ohio has the new ones due by next october! But to go out of the country would be the ideal honeymoon. Alot of people are pointing to Italy. I think i need to start doing some research on it! Smiley smile

We get married 10/10/2020! We're have a 2 year engagement too but bought a house and a lot of our wedding money had to go to needed house fixes so now we need to save a little longer for the honeymoon.
Are you changing your last name? We can't fly right after our wedding because the new law goes into effect right before lol. And I don't want to get a new license with my current last name just to get another one a few months later haha.
Going out of the country would be amazing! Definitely do some research and see which countries offer the most activities that suit your interests, and have yummy food along the way 🙂. Good luck deciding!!

If you don't mind hot weather - I can't suggest Tokyo/Kyoto enough. There's SO much to do and see, transportation is incredibly timely and easy, and the food is otherwordly.
