Totally Blasé About Hair and Makeup

So, I’m just not feeling the whole hair and makeup thing. My wedding is in a little over 2 months, and I haven’t even looked at pictures or selected a trial.
My mom keeps telling me that I have to look my best and that I should have professional make up done, but I really don’t want to look like someone I don’t know on my wedding day.
Honestly, I don’t see why I should do my hair and make up any differently just because it’s my wedding. Am I wrong to feel this way? Has anyone else ever done their own hair and make up, and regretted it?

A good HMUA should not make you look like someone you don't know, but rather, make you look the most amazing you've ever looked. Obviously this is a matter of personal preference, but for me personally, I spent the most amount of money I will ever spend in one day, especially on photography and videography, that I absolutely wanted my image to be picture perfect forever and I wanted to see myself in the best light possible. Plus, hiring a pro completely took any stress off me so I could relax and let someone else do all the work, and quickly too, and I knew that when she was done it would be the best I've ever looked.

I have never done my hair or make up and I'm not going to start now. I agree I shouldn't look like someone else on my wedding day. In theory a make up artist won't do that but if you enjoy the way you do your own make up I just don't see why adding an extra cost or person to the day is needed. If you're content with the way you do it yourself then everyone should let it go.

I never do anything regarding hair or make up (literally never wear any makeup or own any hair products other than shampoo and conditioner) . When I went for my make up trial, I specifically told her I want to look like myself. I am so happy I got my make up done, as I felt beautiful and pictures looked great.

You're definitely not wrong to feel that way! I haven't worn makeup in years and don't see why I should risk looking totally different on my wedding day

I’m not gonna do a hair and makeup trial because it’s a DW so since it will be a different person I really don’t see a point. I also don’t wear makeup often. So I will kind of be putting how I look in my hair and makeup artist hands. I will have a flower crown and I know I want some makeup just not a lot and I trust them to do the minimum since they do this stuff all the time and I never do.
