Toppings

Ally, on November 19, 2019 at 4:05 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
We are having a short afternoon reception from 1 until around 3:30 outdoors. Since we are between meal times, we are going to do meat and cheese trays with buns and condiments and pasta salad and potato salad. We are thinking of doing some additional toppings to go on our sandwiches along with the condiments but I can’t decide on what. I know I want to do tomatoes, I was going to do sliced onions but now I’m wondering how many people actually put onions on a sandwich. Someone also suggested lettuce to me but I’m not sure how many people would like that either. What options would you all like to see if you were being served this type of meal??

Lettuce, tomato, onion — definitely ! There are pretty standard and crowdpleasing.

I’d also do pickles ! Personally I love avocado on a sandwich but that gets a bit more complicated. Maybe pickled jalapeños if anyone in your crowd is into spicy. Sometimes I’ll throw Cole slaw on a sandwich too...but I like to get a little creative with sandwiches Smiley winking . But these are all extras. Wouldn’t worry about going crazy. Lettuce, tomato and onion are all great options.

I would do lettuce, tomato and onion. Agreed that pickles might be good too but not necessary, same with black olives, cucumbers and spinach (as opposed to iceberg, i would definitely do romaine instead of iceberg though). Sliced avocado will be brown in minutes so I’d skip that. Make sure you have mayo, mustard and maybe sub oil too. Oh and i always always put onion on a sandwich 😉

I think those three are normal. I agree with PP to have pickles also.

I agree with pp! tomato, onion, pickles, lettuce. the lettuce i would try to get something like one larger leaf. so people are picking up a few small pieces. Definitely some dressings (mayo mustard ketchup ranch? or a vinaigrette)
