"Top" Over Dress for Self-conscious Mob?

Does she not want a cardigan or shawl?

My mom is the same way! She wore a shawl with the dress to my brothers wedding and hated having to keep it up. We are buying her dress for my wedding from Azazie. They have a ton of nice dresses that cover her arms and hello...the price. I about died when I looked at the prices of some of the dresses at the store I bought my dress from. My bridesmaids are also ordering from Azazie and I have heard nothing but good things about them.

I've never heard of such a thing. There are a ton of places that sell dresses with long sleeves or 1/2 sleeves. My mother-in-law's was half sleeves and she got it Nordstrom. Amazon has a ton of mother of the bride dresses. I would also consider a cardigan or wrap. I couldn't manage what you are describing actually look good.

I second what Mrs. Sarantos said. If your mom doesn't want to go that route, Azazie has a lot of MOB dresses with sleeves.

David's Bridal also has lots of dresses with either full sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, or elbow sleeves.

We got my moms dress at either JC Pennys or Macys. I have also seen this exact dress at Ross in more of a khaki/tan color. It is a strapless dress but comes with a semi-sheer jacket. My mom was super self conscious about her arms because she had just had surgery to remove a cancer mass so she had a horrible scar and didn't want it to show up in pictures so it worked perfect for her and she felt and looked beautiful.

My mom found 2 dresses at JCP. She ended up buying both and will decide later which one she wants to wear. One is gray with a lacy jacket. The other is a dark purple with a blingy neck line and a sheer cape/ top that floats down to my mom's wrists. I hope she picks the purple one.

Any sort of shawl or wrap would drive her nuts because she'd be struggling to keep it up all night. I've looked for cardigans but they're all more "sweater like" and would probably be too warm for her.

I've tried to find lightweight cardigans and jackets as separates (I've found many dresses that would be perfect, except for the sleeves part) but haven't had any luck. It's probably the wrong season to be looking.

Obviously I wouldn't get my mom an ivory bridal top, but the idea is the same. It's a top that can be worn over a dress or on its own. I just haven't seen many examples of ones worn over dresses for bridesmaids, MOB, or other non-bridal outfits.
