Too Similar

Veronica, on June 28, 2019 at 10:08 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
We finally got in touch with the place we are having our rehearsal dinner at, but I am worried the menu is too similar to the menu for our wedding. We are having 30 people for the rehearsal and 100 for the wedding so I am not sure if it even matters that they are similar. We had limited options for a rehearsal dinner because my fmil was supposed to be paying and her budget for 30 people was $1,000. Not sure if she plans on paying anymore because as of a couple months ago she didn't even have half the amount saved. Let me know what you guys think.

Rehearsal Menu
- apps - strombi and veggie and dip platter
- garden salad- rolls and butter- Pasta station with Penne noodles and red sauce, vodka sauce, and afredo- baked ham and chicken francaise- broccoli - scalloped potatoes - ice cream parfait
Wedding Menu- apps - fried ravioli with marinara sauce, tomatoe basil grilled cheese squares, and sesame chicken with mango mustard
- Caesar salad
- rolls and butter
- Pasta station with penne noodles and tortellini with vodka sauce and alfredo
- Mashtini bar
- turkey and prime rib
- roasted mixed vegetables
- roasted potatoes
- candy bar
- wedding cake

Honestly, both meals are free to the attendee. If that's where you all want to host the RD go for it. I don't think people would complain about the menu. I don't think they are too similar.

Unfortunately, it wasn't necessarily what I wanted, but it was what was within my family's budget.

Even if they are similar I don't think it really matters. People would be happy just eating a meal celebrating with you regardless Smiley smile

That's kind of what I thought, but wasn't sure. My fbil is getting married 5 weeks after us and they are having two totally different meals. For their rehearsal they are doing Mexican but for their wedding they are doing similar to ours.

Both menus sound delicious! I don't think they are too similar. Anyway, the people attending both dinners are getting two free meals, they will just be happy to have a nice dinner!

I can see what you mean with having pasta two nights in a row.. I guess if I was one of your guests and I saw pasta one night I would just pick the ham/prime rib the other night Smiley smile I wouldn't worry about it!
