Too much cleavage?

Ginger, on June 4, 2018 at 12:58 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
Hi ladies! I need help, I'm wondering if my dress is showing too much cleavage? There will be a lot of grandparents and older people there and I definitely want to be respectful. When I tried the sample dress on in the store it wasn't this booby, but now that my dress arrived, it fits and is more snug in the boobs and has a built in corset and push up thing, and I think it's too much. I definitely didn't want the look to be all about my boobs! Any thoughts or recommendations? Btw this is without a bra, I already did the trick of removing the bra, you should have seen it with the bra, it looked ridiculous!

Thanks ladies for your help.

Hi Ginger! Wow, this dress is stunning!! Smiley love I think it looks fine, but if you're feeling leary about the cleavage, you could possibly consider extensions to come down and cover some of the exposure. Good luck!

Hey Ginger! I agree with Neffe. Your gown is stunning, and to me it seems perfectly fine. I’d like to add in that I’m pretty sensitive about my girls being too much, and I think this is really tasteful. However, if it’s something you’ll be worrying about, I’d recommend talking with your seamstress and seeing what they could do. Congratulations on purchasing a beautiful gown!!

I don't personally think it's too much at all, but if you're uncomfortable, you should absolutely speak to your seamstress about taking up the neckline somehow. They can add a little mesh modesty panel in that V or some other fabric so it doesn't look like it comes down that far.

I don't think hair extensions are your answer though, as PP suggested.

I am very busty and that is a definite problem for me sometimes. So I completely understand!! I think it would look beautiful if you could add tulle or something between them so it isn't so plunging, but you still get the busty look. Just not too much.

I'm pretty damn conservative. I think it is a beautiful dress that shows your beautiful figure! It's definitely not a "modest" dress, but I don't think it's immodest either.

I think your dress looks gorgeous on you. I dont think you are showing too much cleavage. I'm busty as well and I would wear it and feel comfortable and confident.

Wow that dress is STUNNING. Personally I dont think it's too much. The cups still come up pretty high and provide full coverage. No spillage over the top makes the plunge look tasteful.

Beautiful gown! Personally I think it looks like it needs to be pulled up a bit, which would make it less boobyish. Work with your seamstress to get it to where you feel comfortable.

I don’t think it’s to busty at all and it’s a gorgeous dress!

I agree with PPs though, if you talk to a seamstress about adding a bit of a modesty panel. I would worry about hair exstentions just being another thing to worry about, and you would always have to be thinking about your hair.

It is pretty booby. Plus you’ll be moving around a lot—you’re standing still in the picture and there’s a good amount of cleavage, so you have to consider all angles and if it slips down at all, as strapless gowns are prone to do. I think the shape of the top contributes to drawing the eye to that area, too, as the “v” is kind of exaggerated in the chest area.

The bodice and detail on this dress is to DIE for!!! And it looks gorgeous on you. So I hate the idea of you having to alter it in any way 😪

It looks fine to me BUT If you are concerned, I would talk to seamstress. This looks good standing straight up but I have personally experienced some issues when bending over - which often happens when leaning in to speak with older relatives in particular. I would specifically see what the POV is for others when you are bending forward, then take it from there. Maybe a detachable modesty panel can be put in to maintain the integrity of the dress and then you can still get all of your pro pics done without it? Good luck!

Beautiful dress, but probably is a little too low cut for a religious ceremony. If that's the case, you could add a bit of sheer material to cover a bit of cleavage. Maybe have it removable so you can have the dress both ways. More subtle for the ceremony and more daring for the reception.

I think the dress is fine for a non-religious ceremony.

You look fantastic. I wouldn't change a thing. However, if you're uncomfortable, your seamstress could probably add a modesty panel.

Thank you so much, everyone!! I am going to talk to my seamstress. My plan of action based on your comments is #1 see if there is a way to just pull it up higher like Wed18 said, bc I do think it might be positioned a little low. If that doesn't work, then I'm going to 2) see if she can create a "modesty panel" out of tulle or something like you all recommended that doesn't take away from the dress. I love the idea of a removable one! And then if that doesn't work or if I think it will change the look of the dress too much, then you all really gave me confidence, so then I'm going to just 3) Work it as is!!! Thanks I feel a lot more confident about it now, thank you so much!!

I think it looks great on you. I didn't do a sleeveless because I know when I dance my melons will pop out and I want to wear my dress till the honeymoon suite. I would do what makes you comfortable doing. If your attention will go to " is this not modest enough" etc all evening of your wedding, maybe have the seamstress do something, so you don't find yourself thinking about it through your wedding
