Too late to ask bridesmaids?

1Sooner.fan, on January 2, 2017 at 1:08 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

I'm literally the worst procrastinator. I've known who I wanted to ask to be in my bridal party since the day we got engaged over two years ago, but I knew enough to wait.

Well now we're less than 5 months out and I STILL haven't asked them...I don't know why I keep putting it off. I am just a major procrastinator and due to recent episodes of major depression I put off even the easiest tasks unnecessarily.

We have a venue, caterer, officiant, and photographer, so the date is set.

Is it too late to ask people to be in my bridal party??? Will they even have time to buy a dress if I asked them within the week?

You should be fine. The dresses my BMs picked are supposed to take 12 weeks to arrive after the order date. You should definitely have options.

Do it! You'll want your friends there. Buying a dress can be done in a day. Don't live with regret

I would say yes. If you ask you literally have to ask this week and have them order their dress by the weekend to hope that it'll be here before the wedding for alterations.

You still have time. We are a day apart and literally the only thing I have done with my bridal party is ask them. We haven't dressed shopping or anything. There is plenty of time

    Ask, but ask soon.

It isn't too late! There are several places, such as David's Bridal, that should be able to get you dresses in time.

It's very possible. If anything you may have to have rush orders done. Definitely not too late though!

If you're going to do it, definitely ask by the end of this week. The last wedding I was in, I think my dress came in about 6 weeks...so it's possible. It really depends on if your BM's are able to put up money that quickly for a dress, as I would think they would need to do this ASAP.

I understand what you mean about depression and procrastination. I also think it's definitely not too late. Depending on the style and feel of your wedding, your bridesmaids may be able to get their dresses at a department store (I've heard of people having luck!) or an online boutique like ModCloth. Best of luck to you!

You can definitely still ask! Your options for dresses are going to be limited though, so I would stick with online retailers, or department stores, or the "quick ship" styles from David's Bridal.

I believe you should be fine. Just be sure to ask soon just in case there is a specific dress you want them to have and they need to get it tailored. Unless you allow them to pick out their own dresses and you pick a color.

Ask them! You can buy dresses off the rack if you have to, although I seriously doubt you will. My wedding is in July and the lady at DB told me to just make sure they order by April.

Totally ok to still ask! We ordered dresses from David's Bridal and they took 5 weeks to come in. Ask soon and go dress shopping by the end of the month and you'll be fine

I went to David's Bridal this weekend with my MOH, and they told us we are pushing it. She has 7 days to pick her dress.

Another bridal salon told us it will take 5 months, and she needs to pay a hefty rush fee if she wants it to arrive in 3 months.

So unless you can find something off the rack, you might be screwed.

You should be fine, but you should ask very soon, if not now. You need to make sure everyone can purchase their dress in time.

My best friend planed her wedding in two months under extenuating circumstances (her mom was terminally ill). She asked me to be her bridesmaid, so I had a very short time to purchase my dress and I was able to do it.

Do it! You can always go to David's Bridal or use Rent the Runway and they can get their dresses. Just give them an easy color to choose from and specify a length/fabric and it will be fine.

You need to ask now. Do you have in mind what dress they'll be wearing? Some places take a couple months to have the dress in and altered.

Ask now but maybe allow them to pick their own dress. Just give them a color.

If you ask now and order the dresses ASAP from a place like Azazie you should be ok. ETA: my bridesmaids just ordered their dresses from Azazie and should be receiving them by the end of February.
