Too Early?

Planning on June 2022 wedding, wanting to secure the venue to secure that date.
Everyone thinks I’m doing this way too far in advance. Am I? 😬

Personally I don’t think it’s too far in advance at all. Also consider how many brides have rescheduled from this year to 2021 due to COVID so I would get your venue chosen as soon as possible.

We booked our venue in February 2019 for June 2021, so further out than you're talking about. I think it's fine as long as you're positive your desires won't change between now and then. If it's possible your style, etc. will change, then you shouldn't put any money down at all. We were confident, so we booked our venue in February, followed by a photographer and DJ in March '19, and a HMUA and florist in April '20.

I don't think its too much in advance at all. My wedding is scheduled for October 10, 2020 (fingers crossed) and I had my venue secured in August of 2018. It's so much easier to plan in advance. Especially in cases like this. All my final payments will be made before August and worse comes to worse if I have to push my date back I just have to find a day that works for all the vendors and my money will just be transferred and I won't have anything to do except wait for the new date. I say plan as far in advance as you want!

I think booking earlier is best, I can say I booked a few vendors and since then they have gone up in price so it was a win for us!

Many popular venues get booked up fast. So if you want to secure it for your date, it might not be too early at all.

Sunday we booked our venue for 10/22/22 and they already had people looking at spring/summer of 2022. So I vote at least book the venue now if its on your must have list! Plus since we looked so far out they let us have 2020 pricing!!

Venues get booked so fast. It's always better to book early, in my experience.

Book your venue! I started looking at 22 months out and I had 2 halls already booked. Once it’s booked you can somewhat relax and try to figure out colors and lots of Pinterest. I’m not a year out and I feel behind but I’m really not. But everything will be okah

I've been in a similar boat. I started ramping up the planning during COVID and everyone around me was saying to just chill and not think about it. Honestly, if you have the budget to plan it might be different for you but with so much uncertainty, weddings being moved or cancelled and life general uncertainty of having a job and being able to keep it in the next 6 months, I would say wait. You have 2 years. Wait until at least the next 6 months to see where things are going.

I think you are within time-frame, with the venue booked you can focus on filling in all the little details to make your day special and to your liking.

The only thing I would say is to find out what happens to any money that you pay them if the business later shuts down either temporarily or permanently. I think that is one thing this scenario has brought into the spotlight.

Booking early is a blessing!! But make sure to inquire about venue shut down policy.

I didnt do anything else till about 18 months out.. im not a year and still have stuff to do but itll get done and be okay!
