Too early?

Madeline, on October 9, 2020 at 3:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

So, my fiancée and I got engaged this month, and with everything going on, we’re not necessarily trying to have a wedding for next year. We decided October 2022. Is it too early to start looking at venues and meeting with them? I’m ready to get started, but I don’t want to seem too eager two years out haha Smiley smile

    Hi Madeline!

Congrats on your engagement! There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to get things in order. The earlier the better! There are some venues that will allow tours and such this early on. Even if they don't, it's always nice to have a sense of what you're looking for ahead of time so I would definitely make a list of venues that you are considering and reach out.

    Good Luck & Happy Planning!

I don't think it's too early to at least start looking! Some may not let you book just yet (some only book a year out), but if you find one you like and they're willing to book two years in advance, I say go for it! Especially with so many people postponing, some 2021 brides may also be postponing to 2022, so it couldn't hurt to start looking now and locking in your date a little earlier than normal.

I would think it’s the perfect time to start actually all things considered. All of us 2020 brides took the 2021 dates so snag your 2022 date while you can!

Not too early at all! Personally, I found planning the most fun at the beginning when it was new & I was super excited! Enjoy being in that newly engaged bliss and start planning your day Smiley smile
Plus, I’m pretty sure 2022 dates are going to get snagged up quicker than usual because of the pandemic- might as well stake your claim now while there are still lots of dates to choose from!

Nope! I got engaged june 2019 and started to look at venues and some were already booked for the day we wanted. We found the perfect venue in October. Then rest came in flowing with Pinterest and ideas of what time of food or look you want.

Congrats! Our engagement is about a year and a half and we booked the venue two months after getting engaged and started looking immediately. I think the sooner the better! Our date is 6/6/21 and we already have every big vendors booked and it's so nice to not stress about anything 😊

Not too early at all! We got engaged in August of 2018 and are getting married tomorrow!

Prices typically go up every year, so you can usually lock the current year's rates in for a future event.

I think it’s smart to start planning now. With all the postponed weddings, you’ll want to secure a date with your core vendors ASAP. We reserved our venue in March 2019 for October 2020 - now October 2021. Good luck!

Most venues require you to tour and book them now, especially if they are popular. You can focus on booking your other vendors at the start of next year but start browsing now to get who you want.

Congratulations!!! It's definitely not too early. A lot of weddings are being postponed so it might be busy around the time you're looking at. We booked our venue 15 months out and there was only 1 date left for that month!! Also I love that we've had time to pay it off (it was more than we wanted to spend). I say absolutely go for it.

We're getting married May 2022! And I started already! Venue, photographer, dj, officiant are all knocked out! A couple reasons why we started already is: im a nursing student and thats my senior year so im gonna be more focused on school than my wedding to really plan, with covid happening I wanted to make sure we got the vendors and venue we wanted with so many weddings being pushed, and lastly we're paying and DIYing most of our wedding and that takes time! I have so much started and I'm glad we did it!

October is peak wedding season, so I would get look now. Especially with the pandemic and a lot of 2020 and even 2021 brides postponing. My venue was completely booked for 2021 besides Black Friday. It's fun to start looking now!

I got engaged on August 15th and we looked atleast 6 venues in person and booked our venue for September 23rd, 2022.

It's never too early: you pretty much get your pick of vendors and you can shop around for the best values. You can take your time and change your mind a million times, too, which is nice. No pressure!

And to piggyback on the other comments: with all of the postponements, I would say to get looking!
