Too early, too late for registry?

Erin, on April 8, 2016 at 1:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Hi ladies, I was just wondering if 8 months is too early to register and if 4 months before the wedding is too late to register? My checklist here says it's time, it being 8 months until my wedding, but I was wondering how much later is safe. What were some of your experiences registering earlier as opposed to later, and vice versa. Thank you!

8 months really isn't too early. I think that's about how far before we did it. Some people bought us gifts VERY early, which I wasn't expecting at all. Just make sure that you check it every few weeks for discontinued items. I had to replace items a few times up until the wedding.

When you send your STD, people that cannot attend may start sending gifts or look for your registry on your wedding website. I'd say go for it!

I think that's right on track, We registered in December for our August wedding then I did some tweaks on line over the remainder of the time.

I registered about 9-10 months out. My shower isnt until October so while I shared the links on our website, no one has really looked yet. But its nice because every so often i'll go in and tweak it

We completed the registry right about the same time we sent out the save the dates, as it had the wedding website on it and people would start looking once they receive that. It was about a month ago for our October wedding.

I was a slacker and didn't finish my registries until March and my wedding is in June. I started one in November, but I hated the whole experience. The lady at BBB wouldn't let us use the scanner, and she kept scanning things I didn't want! Plus she wasn't very fun. FH was being silly and asked how much moon sand we could register for and she didn't even realize he was joking.

If you have the time to do it now, go for it. It's one less thing that you would have to do closer to the wedding, so why not save yourself some stress. It took me a lot longer to decide what to put on the registry than I was expected. After two or three weeks I'm still debating on whether we should register for new dishes and which ones. My point it, go ahead and do it now if you want and enjoy not feeling rushed about it!

I went ahead and made a registry even though I haven't sent STDs yet, just so I have time to go back and add stuff as I think of it. I already had a wish list created on BB&B cause I've been buying stuff every time I got a 20% coupon and just transferred what I didn't have to my registry

I don't think there is really too early to do it, as long as you look at it closer to the date to update it. As far as too late, I would say it needs to be done at the very latest when shower invites go out. ETA: i would also recommend looking online at what you registered for as well, incase you did any impulse clicks and realise you don't actually want something.

I would do it before the STDs go out. It took us 2 hours in the store and I spent countless hours online updating the list. I've already received 2 gifts. One was purchased before the STDs even went out. People get excited as soon as they know the wedding date. I would say that when the shower invites go out is the latest that you want to do it.

We are getting married October 1st....first bridal shower is June 25th and we are registering this coming Sunday. I didn't want to do it too early at the risk of having a bunch of discontinued items by the time shower invites go out.

5 months away and I haven't done it yet. I don't live in the same state as my FH so I'm going to just get it started by myself.

    I would do it now!

I made one at 10-11 months out. And I have had time to gain clarity and re-evaluate what I put on. I changed so much of it and I'm so happy I did! If I waited too long, I would've had the original mess of a registry. With my tweaks, I'm going to be so much happier!
