Too Early to Start Planning??

Bella, on February 4, 2021 at 4:52 PM Posted in Planning 1 9
Hello brides! Super excited to join you all planning our dream weddings!

I said yes to my husband-elect 6/20/2020 but wedding planning fell on the back burner when he received a cancer diagnosis less than 3 weeks later. We finally got into a better space to plan but of course, COVID. Now I'm starting my Master's soon and won't be finished until summer 2023 so we're planning for a Fall '23 wedding. But that may move up to Fall '22 depending on my class schedule.

Is it too early to plan??? I was thinking I didn't want to deal with wedding planning and clinicals/thesis papers at the same time. But I've put our budget together and I'm ready to hit the ground running so 2023 seems so far away 😭

Congratulations on your engagement!!! You can definitely start planning as in your colors/theme, start looking at dresses (I wouldn't purchase it yet) & looking on Pinterest for inspiration!

For starters, I just LOLed at the “husband elect” part 😂
I’m all for early planning! The best way to do it if you decide to go ahead with planning, make sure you plan some things throughout your engagement to keep the excitement - photoshoot, bach weekend, showers etc.
You have enough time to really enjoy the engagement and relax without cramming all of the planning into a small window, so definitely space things out!

How exciting!! Start now and enjoy the process! I think many people plan a wedding during college... so I wouldn’t worry too much as long as you’re disciplined and know when to work on wedding versus schoolwork. 🤍

I think you can plan color schemes/put a Pinterest board together, browse some venues online, but I wouldn’t put any deposits down yet.

It's never too early to start planning! Even if you don't decide on much, it can be helpful to start looking at venues! Once you decide on that and get your venue booked, everything else will start falling into place!

The term popped up on Twitter during election time and I'm never using "fiance" ever again 🤣

We have a venue tour this weekend at a place that I fell in love with over the internet. I've lurked through the forums and noticed a lot of brides have had to postpone their weddings due to COVID and some dates are spilling into 2023, so I wonder if I should go ahead and put a deposit down or do a soft hold just in case if the venue allows it! I told the venue manager that the date wouldn't be until 2023 and she was still eager to get us in for a tour ASAP (though I put it off for 2 weeks) so I'm thinking they're very popular and booking 2023 already

Ahhh that is my problem, I am a Master Procrastinator 😎 We have most things figured out so it's a waiting game now...As a matter of fact I'm browsing the forum instead of during an assignment 🤦🏾 Let me go lol
