Too early for bridesmaids dress?

Marie , on February 5, 2018 at 5:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
I am not getting married until March 2019. However, I found the perfect bridesmaid dress. Is it too early to purchase them? When do people usually purchase bridesmaid dresses? TIA.

It’s too early. There could be weight gain/loss or pregnancies. So many outside factors. Usually 3-4 months before the wedding. They come in much faster than wedding dresses.

Definitely early in my opinion. I'd wait another 6 months at least.

Yep, too early. IMO a little early to have your wedding party picked, but to each their own.

Sizes can change quickly, and you may hate those dresses in 6 months anyway.

Yes, way too early. 6 months before your wedding is a better time to work on BM dresses. Closer to the wedding is better so sizing will be more accurate.

Another point to consider- have you had a private discussion with your BM's to clarify their budget? Or, are you planning on buying all the dresses? I think if it is your own money you are risking, it's fine to go ahead and buy them any time you find a dress you love. You may or may not have to pay for alterations or another dress if sizes change or a pregnancy is involved.

Early. Keep it in mind though. One of my bridesmaids got pregnant between my asking her and the wedding (6 mo at time of wedding) and so she had to put off getting a dress and purchasing a larger size. Things just come up.

So I'm getting married in June 2019 and we're going to buy this summer, gives them three months to pay it off. I like having a year before. We did it a year before for the wedding in in this month and I was able to lose 100lbs and get my dress fixed as we went on. Do what you want! If you love it get it! Don't worry about anyone else!

It's a tad early, but keep the design in mind and let your girls know. Mark about 4-5 months from your wedding to order, that way they have time to pay it off, get any alterations if need be, or deal with any possible issues that may arise (like they sent the wrong color or something like that). Take them into a boutique to try on that or a similar dress to make sure it fits all of their body styles.

My younger sister was a bridesmaid in a wedding and had to order the dress without trying it on. In the photos, the MOH looked great, but the rest of the party looked like they draped sheets on their bodies in a bad attempt at a prom dress. She also didn't have time to get alterations as it was a very short engagement, so it was pretty baggy on her. So yeah, definitely have everyone try it on and give time for any complications!

Way too early! Save the info and keep checking on them as the date gets closer. If you found them in a store, ask if they can call you if they will be discontinued before you have ordered. If they're online I'd bookmark it and check every few weeks. A lot of sites will save your cart if you make an account and alert you if theyre being discontinued or they won't be carrying them anymore.
