Too big of a rock?

Sarah, on December 25, 2019 at 1:31 AM Posted in Community Conversations 1 10
This is an odd insecurity....I have been engaged for a few months now and find myself sometimes insecure because my ring is pretty big and sparkly...I know that’s not a bad problem to have, but I can’t help feel like people judge me for having a big ring. It’s a double band (I wanted a thicker band) with a halo and good size center stone. I don’t wear much jewelry and consider myself a simple person when it come to jewelry. I love the ring and love that my fiancé gave it to me but I just get so insecure about it some times. Am I crazy and need to get over myself?

Please rock your ring with confidence and joy and be appreciative of the compliments. But never be insecure or feel like you have to hide your ring or play it down. That wouldn’t be fair to yourself or your FH.

I love my ring and all of it’s sparkle. I often get compliments and after thanking the person I thank my FH (since he picked it). But to feel insecure... no way!!! 😉
    Congrats!!!! 💍

I think it’s only in your mind. People can look at it because it’s beautiful not because they are judging you.

Like sexypoodle said, thank the compliment and thank your fh every chance you get. I'm not much of a jewelry wearer but my hubby knew how to make me shine...my ring with its bling "dances" every time I wave my hand and I don't intentionally wave my hands, Im a talker and wave my hands...lol and at times people will stop me in mid-sentance and throw a compliment and I thank them. Embrace the compliments and as I said thank your fh. I thank mine often.💝

En who cares what people think. If People judge let them.
Anyone that cares for you won't care. Your ring is your ring. Be proud of it.

I think before giving advice it’s important to understand why you feel weird about it. Is it because you feel like people are judging you, or because you feel like it’s not “you” since you’re not much of a jewelry person?

I just ask that because my husband’s friend (who doesn’t have very much money) proposed to his now-wife with this giant 2 carat diamond ring and spent probably his entire savings account on it 😂 his now-wife (who knew he didn’t have much money) asked how and why he possibly spent so much, and he was like “I wanted to show you that you’re worth EVERYTHING to me.” And she basically was like “well that’s sweet but I don’t want to be broke over a ring” hahaha. She also felt like it was just too bulky and gaudy for her taste and she never felt right about wearing it... so they ended up exchanging it for the exact same style of ring, but with the center stone being much smaller.
SO my point is if your reason for feeling weird about it is that it just isn’t your taste to have such a big ring, then maybe you could do something like she did. HOWEVER if the main reason is that you’re just worried about other people judging you for it...... then let them judge girl, I’m sure it’s a GORGEOUS ring. And btw people would be judging if the ring was “too small” too, so there’s no way to please everyone :p anyone judging you for a ring that’s “too big” is probably jealous!

As long as you love it that’s all that matters. Don’t worry about what others think.

If you love it, then there's nothing wrong with it! People complain about rings being too big or too small. We can never win, it seems! If you love it, flaunt it!
