Toasts

Liz, on June 28, 2020 at 10:26 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
So our best man is on the shy side and doesn't want to give a toast. I'm not going to make him do something he's not comfortable with. Should the MoH do the first toast then?

That's fine if she's up for it. Let them decide on their own.

How does he do with a few drinks in him? some of my friends are the most shy you’ll ever meet but then give them a few cosmos and they’re running the show

The MoH can definitely go first if that's what it will take to get the best man feeling a bit more confident. FH is the same way so he already told me that he's gonna take a couple shots just to do our vows lol. You can also ask him if that would help him.

My MOH hates to do public speaking, so we skipped her speech entirely. My dad and the BM made speeches, and it was fine.

If he's really uncomfortable, ask someone else, or just don't have that speech.

Anyone may give a speech. Perhaps another member of the wedding party could take his place?

Speeches aren't necessary. I'm giving the MOH and best man the option. As PP said it could be someone else in the wedding party or maybe even someone not in the wedding party but still close to the couple.

Yes, she can go first. And if another groomsman would like to give a speech instead of the best man, that is another option!
