Toast Alternatives

Amanda, on April 16, 2013 at 9:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

So, I plan on having a completely dry wedding. There are too many alcoholics invited (and are going definitely) and there are many people who don't know how to hold their liquor invited so we're not risking it. My best friend/one of my BMs gets "white girl wasted" as she calls it and one of my FH's potential groomsmen doesn't know when to STOP drinking. I also have epilepsy so I can't be drinking either.

So, any toast alternatives?

One could argue that the proof of champagne and wine isn't enough but you'd be surprised. Both of them have done it before. -_-

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Just so you guys know if you skip the messages, I absolutely despise the taste of cider. Smiley sad

Can't you just use sparkling cider as a non-alcoholic alternative?

They sell non alchohic coolers so I'd imagine they would have some kind of wine I'm not sure as when I drink wine it's cause I need the alchohic part lol. How bout white grape juice

Do you like white grape juice? I know it's along the same lines as sparkling cider but tastes different to me anyway... or I know this sounds weird but what about ginger ale or sprite? it's still bubbly and looks like champagne, you can even add cherries and make shirley temples or something like that

They have other sparkling juice type drinks (sparkling white grape juice, sparkling grape juice)... there is even a website with a bunch of different non-alcoholic wines! http://www.nonalcoholicwinesonline.com/catalog/

Unless you just don't want to have toasts, that's different.

    White Grape Juice could work.

I'm just looking for all kinds of ideas so I can bounce them off FH. Coolers is another idea.

Oh I'm down for toasts. My FH's family is kinda traditional about that stuff so I'm trying to get it as "cookie-cutter" as possible while being unique as we can.

Sprite sounds awesome. Smiley smile I also have an allergy to ginger to G'ale is out. Smiley sad

    Thanks for the website link!

I went to a friend's wedding and she and her hubby aren't drinkers. They had alcohol for other guests, but not for themselves. Anyway, they did their toast with glass bottles of Coke. Their theme was a rustic country theme, so it totally worked! It was super cute.

How about a ginger ale toast? Or how about having a mocktail toast?

    Sounds cool. Smiley smile

Would it be weird to have people have different beverages or should it all be the same? I could do coke/pepsi (my drink of choice always) and everybody else could have whatever alt I choose?

That's what we are doing. We'll probably do champagne..but everyone else can drink what they want! My wedding is more laid back than traditional. You can do whatever works for you!! Smiley smile

Mocktails are non-alcoholic cocktails, there is Mock Champagne recipe that I found, I know that you said that you don't like ginger ale, I would try it with 7UP

I'm using sparkling grape juice. It's very inexpensive, gives the bubbly feeling and everyone can drink it, including the kids Smiley smile

    GL!

No Problem, at the end of the day, a raised glass of water is still a toast.
