Toast after ceremony?

Stephanie, on October 30, 2024 at 9:52 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
Hi everyone! I’m having a micro-wedding. My ceremony location is at a separate location from my reception. My fiancé wants to do a toast after the ceremony and right before heading to the reception with our guest. Our ceremony location is outdoors and there is spot where we had planned to set up a table and have the the glasses sit at and have guests pour their own champagne to do the toast. Is this tacky?

I would not have guests pour their own champagne. Instead, you could pre-fill the glasses before the ceremony, so that when the time comes for the toast, guests would just need to grab one.

I’ve attended weddings that have done a toast right after the ceremony, and it was lots of fun! However, I would not have guests pouring their own drinks. It just sets you up for the potential for spills, glasses breaking, etc. Plus, it’s going to be very time-consuming sitting there waiting for everyone to pour their drinks. I would have them pre-poured so that guests can just take one.

Can you do the toast at the reception? I agree with others I wouldn't have the guests pouring their own drink for the today but pre filling them outdoors could be an issue too with bugs. If you really want to do it after the ceremony maybe have 1 person go around and pour the champagne quickly. Happy wedding!
