To worry or not to worry

Shelbi, on November 5, 2020 at 4:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I went dress shopping right after getting engaged, found THE ONE and started the whole joyful process. Since I’ve been losing a lot of weight the shop suggested that I wait a few months to do my measurements (which made sense and this was also before pushing out our wedding). Fast forward to calling to schedule my measurements and they hadn’t been taking their payments 🤦🏼‍♀️ (My dad never noticed but we paid for half up front) they fixed this and I went in to have measurements done, and was informed that the lady that does the ordering would have it ordered no later than 9/30. After a week or so with no order confirmation I called to check just to have them call me back 3 days later and inform me that the estimated shipping is 2/26. We moved our wedding from feb to April, and I know there’s still the month of March, but am I right to be worried that my dress wasn’t ordered when it should’ve been ,and that it won’t come in on time for alterations or my bridals? I feel kinda helpless and dumb but I’ve never done this before so I just kinda we with their advice. Help!

I would not be ok with that at all! My wedding was a year out and during that time I had to have FOUR fittings to make it fit correctly. Now if your just getting simple stuff like hemming done you should be fine. Otherwise I would say that's not acceptable. Pay the extra for a rush order usually $75-$100 so that it will be in right after Christmas.

The dress shop/boutique didn’t even give me that option. I still haven’t gotten anything letting me know order info. All I have to go on is what they told me. The payment thing was already an upset/mistake and I kinda feel like this is going on issue #2. I’m not sure if it would make me feel better or worse to call and talk to my consultant or the owner

That timeframe doesn’t include alterations?! I would be freaking out for sure. It took my local bridal alteration place 30 days... I got it back 3 days before we left for our destination wedding. Things are going to start going back to “lockdown” mode as well as my state just implemented new restrictions everywhere. Things are going to be running behind again. Ugh!
    Best wishes 🤍

No it’s not including alterations which is what has been worrying me more! Originally we had thought that the one they brought in from their supplier for me to try on (plus size) would be staying at the store after paying for half of it. The run down they were giving me pretty much was you get it today, it won’t go back the dress stays here and then we go from there with getting it down to your size. However when I went in for my measurements/fitting I was told that the dress I had tried on was sent back to the supplier and they would have to just order mine. Also that it would depend on if they had my size on hand or would have to make it. But there shouldn’t be any issue with time. I’m not sure what they deem an issue 🤦🏼‍♀️
