To wear or not wear a tiara?

FordGrl, on October 14, 2013 at 12:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

How many of you ladies are wearing a tiara? My FH would like for me to wear one, but I am just not sure if I am going to. I am not really a girly girl so it seems a bit too much to wear one with my veil. I may just do it for FH. What is a good website to purchase one at? The one's at Hobby Lobby look cheap. Any suggestions?

Look on Etsy! If you're unsure about it, just wear it for the ceremony Smiley smile

For some reason I always pictured myself wearing one, but then when the time came I didn't want it. I have thought about it and changed my mind about 100 times but going without it. lol.

I bought a hair clip from David's bridal for like $30, I thought the Hobby lobby stuff looked cheap too. David's bridal has more expensive ones so I figure they might be better. But honestly I don't think anyone will know.

To not. I'm not a fan, even on the most princess-y girls/gowns/themes. If you don't want one, I bet he wouldn't even notice the difference between it and a sparkly headband, and you would probably be more comfortable. Go with Samantha-Etsy is fantastic for this sort of thing.

Thanks! I was thinking more of a headband too. I have never been on Etsy so I will definitely check their website out.

Mine wanted me to wear one as well..."so everyone will know you are my princess..." I think he has a theme: princess house key, princess cut engagement ring and a tiara....he's adorable, but no. I think I'll go sparkly headband instead Smiley winking

To each their own. Some love it some don't. Personally, I won't. There are so many beautiful combs and hair pieces other than tiaras that fit my personality better.

I feel like a tiara is on the young side- I want my husband to see me as a sexy bride!! But I'm sure if he loves it, then at least try some on and see what you think Smiley tongue

I'm doing a tiara without a veil. The veils just look funny on me. I got my tiara from lightinthebox.com and I'm pretty happy with it.

I definitely did not, some reason just didn't feel very bridal me, even though I am fairly girly...maybe compromise with your FH if you're not feeling it? Like a sparkly hair comb or headband?

When i was a little girl and dreamed of my wedding i always imagined me walking down in q big puffy dress with a tiara. Now I think it's.....don't shoot me....ridiculous.

    But that's just ppersonal preference.

You can getthem at almost any boutique. Websites like weddingfavor unlimted.com have them, shop around to get a feel for what you like and too get a deal

I wore one when I got married in 2004. I had a veil and tiara during our ceremony, and took the veil off and kept the tiara on. If I was just getting married now, not sure I would wear one. Definitely not wearing one for the vow renewal.

I bought a small one that's attached to a bubble veil for fun at my bachelorette party and bridal shower but for the actual wedding?! uhhh no I am not a fan of 99.9%. IMHO unless it's done right, it looks SO white trash to me ewwww haha. Unless you're actually a princess or a queen, it's too much.

Nonetheless you can go to any wedding store and try one on

Not for me, I'm not the princess kind of bride. I wore one to the prom. 13 years later, I still regret it. Guess I'm just not a tiara type. However, I will have an awesome blingy barette//headpiece.

Bottom line...anything that makes you feel less than isn't something you should be wearing on your wedding day. As the other ladies have mentioned, there are a lot of variations that will give you a sparkly look without the princess crown.

No tiara for me. I am wearing my hair up and fastening the veil into the back of it somehow.

Personally I wouldn't. Not only does it feel like a little girl disney thing (which works if that's the actual wedding theme-people DO that) it also feels quincinerra/sweet sixteen. Weddings I feel should be more adult elegant.

You said your not the girly-girl type - well there's your answer. Forget what your FH wants, when it comes to accessories, you have to wear things you'll love. Otherwise you'll find yourself fidgeting with it or wanting to take it off, which could mess up your hair.

I personally feel jewelry accessories or things like scarves and purses are an extention of us, we wear it cuz we like it. If we don't like it, it becomes a distraction that we can't wait to take off

And if you decide not to wear it, I promise...the fact that you don't have a tiara on will not cross his mind...
