To Wax Or Not To Wax

Winter Bride, on September 2, 2018 at 3:27 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 14
Can we talk arm hair? I’m curious how many are planning to wax or laser your arm hair. Or already do? I’m a brunette and my arm hair is pretty light but it’s still there. So I’m thinking of waxing or lasering before our wedding. Thoughts? Ideas? Experiences?

I think If this isn't something you normally do, there's no reason to do it for the wedding. Having hair on your arms is totally normal. I do, however know women who wax it regularly because the hair is very dark and thick and they are self conscious about it (I luckily did not inherit the hairyness my sisters did). If that's the case, go for it.

I just don’t want to see hairy arms in my wedding pictures. Like Day to Day, it’s not really noticeable. FH could care less either way. But I think it’s just me. Hmmm

I say do what makes you happy. It is your day and your choice. I would recommend trying it before you decide to he day before last thing you want are red arms! But over all do what will make you happy.

I'm going in a week before the wedding and getting everything waxed. Lol! I'm Asian and my hair is DARK so it just makes me feel better when everything is silly smooth and perfect for photos. I know it wouldn't matter to anyone else but it's just something I want. Also, not having to worry about shaving the day of is a bonus.

True. Our wedding is in December, so I was thinking of trying it out sometimes this month so see how it works, any irritation or redness, and how long it lasts before any hair grows back.

Hi there! I'm asian/middle eastern. My hair is very dark brown with medium olive skin. In my experience your hair will change once you wax it. It doesn't come back the same (just like shaving). I have friends of different ethnic backgrounds that all say the same. However you might want to consider an alternative to waxing. Like sun tanning for 2-1months prior to your wedding to have an even complexion for your skin (my selection). I've also tried peroxide hair lightening. Never on my arms though. That is a natural lightener. Could try it for maybe half the recommended amount of wait time. Then wash off the peroxide to see if you like the look first (may take a few tries). Just make sure you try it in advance. Give yourself ample time before the wedding.

In regards to photos, your photographer should be able to edit pictures easily enough. If its noticeable. Also a light shimmer bronzer lotion could also do the trick for the camera. In the end It's all about how you like yourself though! Hope you enjoy your day!

If your arm hair is light I say don't touch it. It will end up to be a lot of maintenance for something that probably no one else really notices except you.

I was thinking of just shaving my arms. It's not something I ever do but I do have rather dark and thick arm hair. No one will notice or care, especially not FH, but it's something that would make me feel prettier and that's what matters.

I am pretty furry but no one would know. I used to get waxed and it was dreadful. I got lasered for bikini and underarms and love it. it was expensive and took two years to finish. However, it gave me so much more confidence and I feel so beautiful and silky, so t was worth it to me. But my arms themselves I just shave.

I use one of those little female hair trimmers on my arms. I love it actually.

I’m italian - VERY italian. My body hair is very black and thick. Ugh. BUT!! I have been shaving my arm hair for 17 years and it’s the greatest decision I ever made. It does NOT grow back coarse or stubbly and it has since gotten finer. I use a mans razor and ladies shaving cream and it’s amazing. They feel like silk for weeks.

I totally understand this because my arms are very hairy, always have been since childhood. I was very self conscious and even bullied for it but I learned that it's a part of me and I don't care who doesn't like it lol FH loves me how I am and it doesn't bother him. I thought the same that I didn't want it to show in my pictures and I even thought about getting a dress with sleeves but I fell in love with a dress that has straps. I also thought about doing lasic removal but honestly I'm on a budget and it's only for a day because I don't think I'll keep up. If you're thinking about keep up the maintenance then maybe but it's a part of you 🙂

I have blonde hair but my arm hair has always been thick and noticeable. I've been shaving my arms since I was in middle school. It's all personal preference but I like having smooth arms.
