To Veil Or Not To Veil?

The Bride, on July 22, 2019 at 6:44 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17
I once read that when a bride wears a veil down the aisle, it's to disguise herself from evil spirits who are jealous of her happiness.

What is your understanding of why brides wear veils? Will you be wearing a veil? Why or why not?

I didnt wear one. The choice was moreso because it just didn't look good on me. I chose a headband instead

I heard it came from arranged marriages so you couldn't tell if the bride was ugly until after you were married 🙄
I don't want one, I don't like stuff in my face or on my head.

There are various stories about veils. I’m wearing one because I think they look good and it makes me feel bridal.

I considered headbands for my bridesmaids and I but opted for a veil because my wedding planner thought it would look better in pictures. It was windy on my wedding day so the veil flying all around was beautiful.

I've heard the same thing and the 'hide the bride from evil spirits.' I think it might be a bit of both. In general, there's a lot of tradition around hiding the bride's appearance from the future husband.

I felt like I was wearing a costume when I did that.. So I went with bridal hair combs instead.

I don't plan on wearing one! I think I would get annoyed by it!
