To train or not to train

I bought a dress off-the-rack awhile ago. It has a small brown stain on the edge of the train (I think my MIL intentionally cut off the stain in the picture but you get the idea). I originally intended to hem the dress with no train since it’s just the top layer of silk chiffon. But now I’m second guessing that and wondering if I should attempt to clean it instead.

Did anyone else hem their train and have regrets? Or was it a great decision? I’m undecided.

How close to the edge of the train is the stain? I'm wondering if you could cut off only a bit of the train (shortening it slightly) instead of lopping the whole thing off?
I think the bigger question though is do you want to have a train? Is that part of the bridal experience for you?

I think there would be no harm in trying to clean it - worst case scenario, it doesn't come out, and you end up doing what you're considering anyway - either completely removing the train or just shortening it until the stain is removed/hidden.

I LOVE trains, how often in our lives will we wear dresses with flowing trains.. I would try to clean it, or just hem enough to remove the stain. But honestly, it might not be that noticeable to anyone else being the dress is ivory. Food for thought!
