To Train or Not to Train?

Allie, on January 5, 2022 at 9:24 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
I’ve been going back and forth on this and want to know your thoughts. I love the look of a chapel length train because the skirt of my dream dress has a lot of detail. We’re having a private ceremony and then for our reception I’m changing into my black wedding dress. The reception is a intimate dinner in a speakeasy style venue so there’s not room for a lot of dancing. We just plan to mingle and eat with our guests. Is a chapel length train too much to drag around through a reception?

This is what a bustle is for. Ask your seamstress about it when you get alterations.

My dress doesn't have a train. I really grappled with this one, and my compromise is that my veil is cathedral length. I'll wear the veil for the ceremony and take it off for the reception. I'm staying in the same dress but at least I'll be able to move around and dance without worrying about the train or messing with a bustle.

We have a small wedding & venue, no dancing, dinner only. I’m wearing a Ballgown with a chapel train. And a veil to match 😁 I will bustle my train for the reception (15 point bustle). If it makes you happy, it’s not too much imo.

Definitely bustle it for the reception. Real talk, any length train is a PITA if you're walking around mingling - I went to a formal ball once and had the tiniest train - like literally only a foot or so and people stepped on it so much you wouldn't believe! BUSTLE! You'll be so glad you did.
