To Theme or Not To Theme? That Is the Question!!!

Meredith, on August 13, 2019 at 4:10 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 24
Do you have a theme for your wedding? If so, how did you pick the theme? Is it a common interest like traveling or a series of books? Might it be a place or period of time you both like; like Paris or the Renaissance era? What spark of originality are you putting in your special day?

My fiance picked purple and floral for our theme because he wanted the color to be purple and likes flowers. It was an easy enough request so I agreed.

Our theme is “wedding.” I don’t think themes are at all necessary and if not done well, they can make weddings seem like kids birthday parties. That being said, if you feel passionately about it, go for it!

Themes are totally optional, but we chose a holiday theme because of our December wedding!

We're getting married in December so we just played off of the time of year. We don't have set theme.

Our theme is "wine and whiskey"! I was inspired by pinterest. Many of the stuff I was pinning fit into the theme and then I saw the quote "You'll be my glass of wine and I'll be your shot of whiskey" and was sold. It fits us and it's really fun to work around the theme. My bridesmaids are wearing wine colored dresses and our centerpieces will be wine and whiskey bottles.

Our theme is rustic glam! I love glitter and sparkle so that’s where the glam came from (there will be lots of glittery things st the wedding), but I also love wood things so that’s the rustic! Our venue is rustic/industrial too!

Our theme is the Philadelphia Phillies, our favorite baseball team.

We were set up because we are both actors and Phillies phans, and so we are having red, blue, and purple for colors (the team colors that blend into my favorite color), and a swordfight skit. This way we honor both of our shared passions.

We have baseball bases for our centerpieces, a baseball themed cake, the table numbers will be our favorite players, and we miiiiight be putting home plate at the "altar".

That sounds perfect! My favorite color is purple so I really like that too! Have you added any personal touches or is this all your fiance's contribution?A nice way to put a small personal touch of your own could be to put a favorite book or candle with the flowers on each table. Please let me know how it goes. I'm super excited for you!!!!

Some people like themes but others find them too constraining. I personally found our theme (medieval/fantasy) to be helpful in choosing colors & fonts for things that will be typed up. I hope your wedding themed wedding is totally YOU & you have a ton of fun!

I love the idea of a December wedding! Are you going with Christmas or holiday colors or did you think that would be too predictable? I think it could be super cute to have each table have a different nutcracker & little presents as the center pieces! Best wishes to your holiday wonderland!

That's so cool! You could have a specialty drink for your guests that you could name after yourselves using the 1st part of your name & 2nd part of his (Meg-on from Megan & Logon). All the best to you and yours!

Are you going to just have sunflowers as your bouquet or will there be other flowers as well? Will your color scheme go with the sunflower color or contrast to make the sunflowers really pop? You could make a hair wreath of sunflowers! I'm so excited to see how you use the theme!

These are the centerpieces and votives I bought from another bride (the photo is from her wedding)! My florist is going to make the flower arrangements less springy by adding medium pink & navy silk flowers and taking out some of the white-ish flowers. All my flowers will be real besides the ones in the centerpieces. We'll, also, have navy table runners and gold chargers to decorate the tables.

We're having mint-green, red, and white for our wedding. I thought those colors looked great together. I really like the nutcracker idea, thank you!

I'm picking the actual decor he just got the overall theme. Like I picked the food and he picked the caterer.
I got some left over fake flowers from the arch and tiny lanterns for center pieces so far.

I have navy blue for the BMs dresses and dark gray for the GMs suits with navy ties...There will be minimal sunflowers on the tables, just the ones on the lanterns and then I will have votives scattered along the table. There are navy blue napkins on each table..There will be sunflowers on the cake, and it will be on a fresh cut wood tree stump. I wouldn’t say it’s a theme at all. Just more rustic chic if anything. Pics of inspiration and my centerpieces and favors added

Reusing things from other brides is so smart! It's less expensive & less wasteful! Can we say 'Win win!'? I really like the photo too. Those are really nice!
