To tan or not to tan?

Hey ladies! I'm trying to figure out how much I care about being tan for the wedding. I'd like to have a glow, but I don't tan easily so I can't just go to the beach for a weekend. Hey ladies!

I'm trying to figure out how much I care about being tan for the wedding. I'd like to have a glow, but I don't tan easily so I can't just go to the beach for a weekend. The tanning salons around me require 4 month commitments, which would mean dropping about $100 on being tan. What did you guys do, and what's your thoughts on to tan or not to tan?

Thanks!!!

I tend to prefer the porcelain/peaches and cream skin look which I am naturally...I think tanning can lead to cancer and wrinkles. If you want your skin to be tan, why not just like the others said above use a spray tan, its a lot less damaging on your skin.

I was wondering about this too.. I used to tan a few time a week when I hit 21, have not been in years nor do I want to go back but I did want a nice healthy glow before the wedding. I have olive skin so I might hang by the pool a few weeks beforehand to pick up some color. I would steer clear from the tanning salons though...

I plan to be EXTRA tan for my wedding, but I also have olive skin and tan very well.

Also, $100 for 4 months of tanning is an awful inexpensive deal, seriously. I pay almost $100 per month for unlimited UV and Spray tanning usually.

If you're thinking about using the cheapest bed they have, I wouldn't suggest it. They basically just turn you red. Also, you'll need to invest in good tanning lotion because it makes all the difference when you fake and bake. My suggestion is to buy it on Amazon because it will be 50% cheaper than buying it in the salon. I'm happy to recommend some brands and types for you to try. That said, try sample packets of different lotions before committing to a bottle. You never know how your body will react to lotion and beauty products.

If you're not someone who tans and burns easily, I would suggest investing in spray tanning. Spray tans have come a very long way. I would suggest trying out several different ranges of color and dips to find what your desired color will be. You won't have to worry about it smearing off or staining your dress either-- as long as you go 2-3 days prior to the wedding in case they use a bronzer coat (you just have to wait 8 hours then shower).

My preferred formula in the spray tan booth is a dark double dip with the aftercare extended stay lotion and no bronzer. I usually do that 2 days before an event in addition to a week or two of tanning in bed.

Wanted to add, when I have had it applied by a pro, it was a foam applied with a glove. I find this better than a pro with an airbrush.
