to spanx or not to spanx

Soon to be FRY, on June 28, 2017 at 8:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

So I went to get my alterations done yesterday and the seamstress said I didn't need to wear any shapewear underneath but I feel a little self conscious about my stomach and my hips. I was just curious before I buy anything, which kind you guys like? Also, my dress isn't tight around my hips but I definitely can't afford to gain any weight and was just wondering if any of you knew if shapewear would make that much of a difference in that area? Like, would it be too thick and make my dress too tight or would it not really make a difference?

So, i'm in the spanx camp because i want to look and feel my best in my dress and i feel that spanx help me feel that way. my dress isn't form fitting, but it is natural waisted, so my belly pooch can sort of distort the fabric there. when i put my spanx on, it just looks smooth. it doesn't affect the fit on me at all. i think it depends on your dress whether or not it would make a difference, but there really is no harm in finding out. you could always buy a pair to try on with your dress and return it later.

You look great IMO! Even with shapewear I don't think it'd make a difference, that's just the shape of the dress.

Girl you look GORGEOUS!! If you feel like that's what you want to wear, you can totally wear spanx. But honestly, you'd rock the dress just as well without it. It all comes down to what you're most comfortable with

After seeing your dress, maybe try on a pair to see if it even makes a difference . i see what PP is saying about the shape of the dress, but i think it'll bring you more towards hourglass than muffin top (you look gorgeous BTW. and NOT muffin-toppy)

FYI, i walked into the spanx store and said "gimme your tightest spanx!". i also may end up ripping those suckers off after the portraits/ceremony. we'll see.

I picked a dress of that shape specifically because I didn't feel the need for spanx with it. It was down to that and a form fitting one which I also loved--but knew I wanted to be comfortable. For me spanx get miserable after about 3-4hours and I want to rip them off. Try them on with the dress to see how you feel and make a decision. I think you look beautiful in your dress!

I'd buy a pair and wear them for a few hours.. they aren't the most comfortable things and you want to be comfy on your wedding day

I have a love/hate relationship with Spanx. I love how the make me look in certain dresses, but I hate having to wrestle with them when I have to use the bathroom. So, that's just something to consider...

I think you look beautiful as is! But, it's all about what will make YOU feel comfortable day of. Congrats!!

I don't think you need them! I have loose skin from weightloss that just won't ever tone up, so I'll probably end up with shapewear to keep it tucked away haha.

You look beautiful in that dress! I wouldn't wear shapewear with it. You'll be bending, moving, sitting, standing... And you don't need it. The poof you see looks more like it's the dress design than your body and I don't think you need to change a thing!
