To see or not to see the groom's suit?

I went with to help pick out the tuxes that the guys rented because it is good to know for color, flowers, etc. However, my DH picked up his tux the day before the wedding and I didn't get a chance to see it. Not because it was a surprise, just we were so busy.

I'd say it is fine to see it. Honestly tuxes all kind of look the same so you aren't ruining the surprise. Maybe just look at it on the hanger though instead of having him try it on as a compromise.

I have seen the groomsmen suits so I'd be able to match them with my bridesmaids, and I'm glad I did. I think the issue with my FH is that his suit isn't a traditional one -- it's sapphire blue. Who knows, though, maybe I'll cave between now and then Especially if he's right and I'm the only bride avoiding their groom's outfit, lol.

I guarantee that seeing his suit will not doom your marriage. If he wants you to have a look, indulge him.

That is sooo cute. I'm forcing my fh to show me every detail. I'm afraid he'll get carried away because he has such extravagant taste lol.

Mrs Gibson, lol! I'm glad I started this thread, I honestly had no clue it was the norm to see the suit before or even help him pick it out. I learn new things on WW every day.

Well FH was in a wedding this weekend that used the same tux from Men's Wearhouse that he'll be wearing for our wedding (just a different tie) sooo no surprises here!

(it looked good on him, though!)

We're not having it be a surprise. I've actually never heard of that. I plan on going shopping with him to pick out the tux/suit.

I helped my FH pick out his suit. He always wants my approval on his clothes and this was no different. I've never heard that the bride shouldn't see the groom's suit before the wedding. I'm glad I went with him actually because he was just going to buy a dress shirt without trying it on. Four shirts later he was glad I made him try on shirts.

Oh I should maybe add that DH saw my wedding dress before, he helped pick it out but then after that he didn't look at it or any pictures of it. So he went a year and a half without seeing it so it still felt new. But anyway, just take my advice with a grain of salt because we weren't traditional with the dress.

I went into the rental place with FH and we picked out everything together. I let him pick the tuxes and I picked out the ties for everyone.

Thanks, everyone! I have no idea where I got the idea that you shouldn't see the groom's suit, something I concocted in my own head I suppose.

I don't think I would be totally comfortable being surprised at the altar with the suit. I know FH has good taste, but his groomsmen mostly have terrible taste and only care about getting the cheapest thing.

I went with the guys to pick the stuff out. I didn't care what they got, as long as it looked good together. I'm glad I went! Ffil wanted them all to wear different colored shirts. Our colors are light aqua, coral and gold. He was seriously picking out bright orange and yellow shirts. Finally told him he could wear those if he wanted to look like a traffic barrel but the rest of the guys weren't.

I went with mine to buy his tux, lol. It was just the jacket and pants though. I probably won't see the full look til the wedding.

I went with FH to help him pick out his and his GM's suits so I already know what they look like.

I helped my FH pick out the suits. And I'll probably go with them to the fitting before the wedding. But then FH's usual attire is board shorts and scruffy t-shirts. In fact he's normally just in the shorts because he's on the dive boat every day, so I don't think I trust him to pick out formal attire. He'd get married in shorts and bare feet if I let him!

I went when we picked them out, but I didn't go when they picked them up. I kind of wish I had b/c they put him in a jacket a size bigger which I think was too big for him. I did love seeing him all dressed up for the first time during our first look though.
