To pay for chair flip or not

Erica, on January 14, 2020 at 10:26 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 16
My caterer is charging $200 to flip chairs from the ceremony to the reception area. Debating to have family help or just pay the $200 bucks. Any thoughts?

If you are tight on a budget I would say have family help, but if you have a little room to spend a little more I would have them do the chairs for you. One less thing for you to worry about and you can let your guests relax and hangout. Smiley smile

Well, you could ask the guests to bring their ceremony chair into the reception area. Maybe put a tag on each chair with a message asking them to or print it in the program?

I would pay the $200. It sucks, but I feel like it's better than making your guests having to do any work during the wedding.

Agreed. Your family will also likely be taking photos after the ceremony.

I’m in the same boat. Another ridiculous cost but one I think you need to pay for. You’ll never be able to get every single person to carry their own chair to the reception spot and your immediate family/bridal party will be too busy with photos or other stuff. Plus they will be all dressed up and won’t want to be dragging chairs everywhere. It sucks but yeah just pay it

They can do it when pictures are being taken. Worth the money.

Definitely pay for it. Your guests should not be asked to work your wedding.

Pay for it. Let yourselves and your guests relax on your wedding day and not put them to work as free labor. I've been to weddings like this and it always ends up that you move more than just your own chair as some people are not capable of moving their own chair or they don't know they have to do it and I can tell you it was chaos. Pay the $200.

I know that this is not helpful but this reminded me of the last episode of The Office where Dwight and Angela got married. They provided hay hooks so guests could drag their hay bale from the ceremony to the reception tent LMAO

I'd spend the $200. I've only been to one wedding where we had to physically grab the chairs from the ceremony space and it was super weird.

I have definitely been a family member drafted to work at a wedding, and it was not a pleasant experience. I MUCH prefer weddings where I get to enjoy the wedding with all of the other guests.

Just pay the money. I realize now it's a lot of money and you want to keep to a budget, but the stress of worrying if there is enough time and placing that responsibility on someone else is not worth it.

I think I would just pay the $200 to have peace of mind, everyone can enjoy themselves and maybe be taking photos or eating cocktail... either way you will know for sure it will get done in a timely and professional manner
