Oh man I feel like I have so much on my mind since wedding planning has gone into full swing. Sorry for ranting! I need outsider advice mainly because my parents have differing ideas on etiquette due to their generation/I am the first in my friend group to get married.
This is a question in regards to a guest list. So back story: I was friends with a girl in high school (I moved to a new school freshman year) and we used to be kind of close. Once we graduated, she went off and completely dropped me and a few other girls as friends and then invited us to her wedding five years later. I feel like I don't know her because it's been years since we've seen each other and I have never met her husband before so I politely declined her invite. It was uncomfortable for me to be at a wedding where I didn't know the couple AS a couple or as individuals. Even then, she never reached out to me at all, just sent an invite and asked for dirt on a few of my girlfriends to see if she should give them plus ones.
When I got engaged, all of a sudden she started acting like she was my best friend. I didn't really facilitate conversation so much because I felt like she was only reaching out to get an invite to my wedding. My FH and I have a tight budget so that means a small guest list and unfortunately there are other girls from high school I never lost touch with that I would prefer to invite.
Because she invited me to her wedding, is it rude for me to not invite her to mine? She also has never met my FH so I feel like it will be uncomfortable for both parties involved.
