To hire or not to hire?

Autumn, on June 9, 2019 at 4:23 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7
Hey guys! I am stuck again. I have been having a lot of trouble with vendors not responding to me and I need advice on this particular one. I messaged a hair and makeup person about two weeks ago on this app. She responded within a day. I waited about 3 days to respond as it was Memorial Day weekend. This was Monday. She didn’t respond so I contacted her on her Facebook page on Friday since my wedding is only 3 months away and I want to lock someone in for the job. She never responded to that either. She finally responded on this app Friday almost two full weeks since I messaged her. And has since answered two questions today. I am just nervous since I’ve had so many problems with people not responding. I’m worried about her being flaky or not showing up the day of. She was the only person that responded to me about availability that I liked that was under $300 (for hair makeup and trial and travel fee, not including tip). And she does have good reviews, I just think not responding to a potential client for two weeks is a little unprofessional especially since I reached out to her on a different outlet. My mom is worried too but suggested I ask why it took so long to respond in the first place but I don’t know a polite way to do that. Am I overthinking things? I tend to do that haha. Just let me know what you all think!

I can see both sides of it.. As a hairdresser, she may not be in front of her phone or computer like some professions have the ability to do so. I hate calling places so usually reach out online, so I can see both points of views.. I have heard of people having difficulties getting answers through this app.
I am think if you like her work you should hire her.

Since colleges, and all lower schools, all get out in May or June, there is a huge business in weddings, graduations, proms, job interviews. She may have been running straight out working a 70 hour week, and had to check with others who "maybe" wanted her that weekend, to see if she is still available. It is a hard thing when you have to contact other potential clients before finalizing a booking. So give her the benefit of the doubt if her reviews are good.

I was thinking that maybe she didn’t look at this app much which would totally be understandable which is why I contacted her on her Facebook page since she doesn’t have a website. But yes it’s not a profession where you sit in front of a computer! Thanks for your input!

That is a good point, I didn’t think about the time of the year. Thanks for the perspective!

I think go ahead and hire her! She seems like she isn't intentionally ignoring your messages!

If you don't feel comfortable, find someone else! I had my hair guy flake out on me TWO WEEKS BEFORE MY WEDDING! Thankfully my bridesmaids found someone new for hair and makeup. OMG... It was a nightmare, but the person we hired ended up being way better than the first one we hired. It works out!

I would call her and talk to her about her services and maybe mention that you were concerned it took a while to get her response and ask her if you hire her what is her preferred method of communication in order to get quick responses. My girl gave me her number and we would text rather than you social media sites. It will likely all be good once you hire her, but if it were me I would say just ask in that way so she isn’t offended but you get your answer. Good luck!
