To hire or not to hire a videographer, that is the question!

Marina, on January 22, 2020 at 3:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hi there! I'm getting married in September so there is a lot of planning ahead. My mom is #1 enthusiast in all the preparations and usually we get on well but recently there had been a little disagreement. I think about hiring a videographer so that we will have a nice movie about our wedding and will be able to re-live all the sweet moments. And my mother doesn't agree, she thinks it will be a pure waste of money since I've already found a good photographer, i.e. the photo album will be enough. Idk, it seems right on the one hand but on the other I WANT A MOVIE Smiley laugh Okay, okay, so what do you think??

If you want a videographer and have it in your budget then do it! My dad said the same thing but my fiancée and I both want video as well as photos. We want to rehear our vows and the speeches and have some video of dancing because when our parents and grandparents are gone it’ll be special to reflect on those moments with video.

Get the movie!! Other than the price lol, there’s no downside to that decision. #teamvideograpgher

Unless your mom is paying, she doesn’t have input on what vendors you hire. What does your FS think? That’s really the only other opinion that matters. We hired a videographer and have no regrets.

I support #teamvideograpgher but it's all about money. If the videographer is in your budget then go for the movie, it will be so sweet! Just imagine you and your man sitting some 10 years later and watching the little movie you have from your wedding day! Still, if your budget doesn't allow that then don't get upset, you have a photographer who will take great pics. Some photographers also have an additional service of making the video collage, it is like a movie made out of your photos. Or you can even do it yourself with some video collage maker. My cousin used Smartshow 3D to do so, the video was so nice and colorful! Remember, that the photographer should be hardworking if you want to make the video with the photos later, so make sure you've hired the right one. Anyway, the photos are great but if there is a possibility to get the video then I support YOU! it is your big day, honey Smiley ring

I wanted one so I found one that was willing to work with what we wanted and costs. I’m excited for it. The one thing I knew I wanted was photography and videography

We diy’d the Video by purchasing 2 📹s, SD cards, and having 2 guys of different height record so that different angles would be captured.

I just could NOT allow myself to spend that amount of 💵 on that.

I’m also #teamvideographer! As the bride you most often will enter the ceremony last, so without a video you actually won’t see any of that processional. And on the day, in front of your nearest and dearest, your ceremony and vows will fly by! It’s worth being able to see the procession and replay the ceremony to see the emotion and hear those words. Plus, it’s nice to be able to see your whole family together in reception and crowd shots because 1) how often do extended families ALL get together these days? and 2) no one lives forever...

Team videographer 1,000% Smiley smile We had amazing photographers as well and definitely have pictures hanging at home, on social media, look through albums, but I literally cannot get enough of our wedding videos!! I cry every time I watch one of them!! Consider this an investment like your photographer, maybe your mom is iffy on it because videographers weren't a "thing" when she got married? For our videographers we ended up with:

    - 7-8 min full wedding video

    - 1 min mini full wedding video (perfect for social media!)

    - 10 min edited getting ready video

    - full ceremony video

    - father/MOH/Best man toasts video

    - engagement video (we worked with out of state videographers so they came a day early and we did this as a kindof "get to know each other before the big day" thing)

Trust me, your mom is iffy now but she'll be crying when she's watching these videos for decades to come Smiley smile

We didn't have one due to preference, not budget. Having two photographers was enough for us. We didn't want anyone else near us the day of filming. Understand why some people would want them but no regrets here going without one.

I would do it if you've the budget for it. Video recap of your day is really good.

Do it! Pictures are wonderful, but only capture one moment in time. A video will help you relive your vows, the speeches at your reception, and all of those moments in between. For me, personally, video is so important because I want to relive things that I may be too nervous or stressed out about on the actual day. Like I know I'm going to be huge mess during the first look and I would love for that to be captured so I can watch it again.

We didn’t have one and sometimes I regret it but other times I don’t. I think that if it is in your budget then go for it! It would be better to have one than to not have one and regret it.

Thank you so much ladies!! The payments are on me totally and the videographer fits my budget but it's just my mom being stubborn about how silly this would be. Still, I'm in for the videos, yay!
