To have photos + video or photos only?

Gina, on December 30, 2020 at 10:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 22
There’s a significant difference in cost when it comes to this decision friends, so I want to hear some of your thoughts about what you’re thinking about doing? I’d really like a video but I think I can do without, considering the costs.

Let me know what you think! Thanks in advance.

We hired a videographer and have zero regrets, it was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Our photos are great, but they don’t allow me to hear the music when I walk down the aisle, my wife reading her vows, or the laughs from all of our friends and family together in one room. The video let’s you relive the wedding in a different way than photos do.

My fiance and I initially weren't going to hire a videographer and instead just have our photographer (plus a second shooter just to make sure nothing was missed), but since we postponed (and after reading so many positive recommendations for having a videographer), we decided to book one. It will provide a totally different aspect to the wedding, and would be a nice video to watch every year on our anniversary.

We had a photographer only, due to budget, downsizing our wedding, and removing some elements. I am thrilled with our photos and happy with our decision. But if we would've had a "normal" wedding and/or extra budget, I would've absolutely gotten a videographer.

If you can afford a videographer, I would definitely recommend it; it's just another way to remember and relive your day, though not necessary.

If we could swing a videographer I absolutely would invest in it. Unfortunately that’s completely out of our ballpark which I’m super upset about! I agree with Caytlyn, you get to experience your wedding all over again in a different way than you do with photos. I think that if you can swing the money a videographer is 100% worth the investment.

We decided on only photography. That was hard enough for me. Lol. I'm not a fan of pictures of myself but FH really wanted photos. Both of us weren't interrsted in videography. I enjoy watching the wedding videos from the 80s to early 00s, or even the british royal family weddinggs bc it shows second by second the wedding ceremony. Modern day wedding videos remind me of film trailers.

We had a videographer and our videos are my favorite thing we took away from our wedding day (aside from getting married, of course). Photos are great, but they don't show your day in action. Your wedding day will go by so quickly, it is nice to have a video to look back on. If the decision of hiring a videographer was a budget issue, I would forego anything else in order to hire one!

We hired both a videographer and photographer. It was very important to me to have a video of our wedding. So much happens in such a short of time that it is nearly impossible to remember every single detail from that day. Also other than photos, there really isn't anything tangible from your wedding day so having a video of your wedding is another way to look back on that very special day. We intend on watching it every anniversary. I'm currently pregnant and I can't wait to watch it with our daughter as she grows. I will say my husband didn't care so much about having a videographer, but he knew it was important to me.

We originally weren't going to get videography just because of the cost but our photographer ended up offering us an amazing deal including photography, videography, & an inflated photo booth. So now I'm looking forward to it!

I was originally against videography, mainly because of the cost. I didn’t see a point in having a video when we would have beautiful photos. However, after giving it considerable thought, I have changed my mind and booked a videographer. Pictures are beautiful, but they do not allow you to experience your day all over again. Videography allows you to see your friends and family interacting, hear their voices, relive taking your vows. And, the thing that finally convinced me to hire a videographer, was the realization that we won’t have all of our family and friends forever. There will be a day when some of these people pass away, and I will want to be able to hear their voices, hear them laugh, see them happy with other family and friends at my wedding.

We didn't have a videographer and no regrets here. We had an awesome photographer and that was more than enough for us. If you think you'd watch the video a lot then it might be worth splurging, but we did without it.

We are having both and 2 photographers. One with me and one with my FH to capture everything. The day goes by so quickly we wont recall all. But it also depends on your budget.

A coworker of mine is a filmmaker, and offered to do our video for a ridiculously low price. I'm so glad we did, because we just sent a bunch of clips to my parents as our "gift" to them this year.

If you can't afford the professionals, seek out film students at your local college. They may be happy for the work and the experience for a lot less money.

I think if you have a good photographer then it is ok to have photos only! especially if it isn't in your budget for the video, it is ok to just do without it

If you can't afford a pro videographer, invest in a GoPro camera that can be used to document other events too.
