To Glove or Not to Glove?

Melissa, on December 10, 2019 at 7:08 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
Do women still wear gloves with their wedding dresses? I’m getting married in February and I love the fit of my strapless San Patrick dress. Unfortunately, To Glove or Not to Glove? 1

I absolutely hate my arms and was trying to decide on adding sleeves to the dress or wearing gloves as a way to camouflage my arms.... lol
Any suggestions on sleeves or long glove alternatives would be greatly appreciated!

I think your dress would look great with gloves! But, I'm not really sure if you'd wear your ring over the glove or if the glove is supposed to come off when you exchange rings.

I don’t think many people do gloves anymore, that’s not to say anything is wrong with them. Besides gloves, if you really wanted to cover your arms, you could do a topper or jacket. Etsy has lots of options, even David’s bridal online. Probably azazie as well.

I personally do not think gloves would make it look nice. I am not a fan of them and I do not think they are common. I think a nice lace jacket could be lovely. Smiley smile

I love gloves! You could get a pair and try it out. It would be so lovely and classy. I own 2 pairs of gloves. I hadn't seen anyone wear gloves at a wedding in a while, but I just saw that Sadie Robertson got married and wore gloves with her strapless dress and I thought it looked so elegant!

I’m not personally a fan of gloves and honestly they will emphasize your arms because the spot where they cut off. You could have a small sleeve added to your dress or just wear a little bridal wrap or shrug.

Your dress is stunning! I think gloves would add a very elegant touch. Doesn't matter if its trendy. If you like that idea then go for it

Your dress would look amazing with gloves and a winter wedding is certainly the time to pull off that look!

I thought about wearing gloves actually. Mostly because I’m super germaphobic honestly 😂 but also thought they’d look cool. The thing that made me decide against it was it covers your ring and covers your nails if you end up having them done.

I agree about gloves potentially bringing more attention/focus to your upper arms, so if that's not a favorite feature I probably wouldn't choose gloves for that reason. I also think a consideration is the level of formality of the wedding. Long gloves are traditionally an accessory for a very formal level of dress/evening wedding/verging on Black Tie, and all that entails; if that describes your wedding, then gloves are well aligned. If your wedding is more cocktail attire or anything less formal than that, I think they could seem kind of inappropriate for the level of formality of the wedding overall.

I personally think gloves would pair beautifully with your dress! Normally I don't care much for them, but your dress would complement them well

Try on the different options - capes, shawls, veils, jeweled caplets, cap sleeves, thin straps etc.

I hadn’t even thought about a veil covering. I have to try that as an option. Thank you!
