To get a bolero or not

Jennifer, on July 14, 2015 at 1:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Hi everyone! Has anyone purchased a bolero for their gown? I'm thinking of wearing one during the ceremony and taking it off with the veil later. I'm concerned about it matching (my designer doesn't make them) and the quality of it. Any help would be appreciated!

I will be wearing a bolero. My dress designer is Ines di Santo and my bolero is from Alon Livne. They match really well. I would recommend spending some time in the boutique trying in a few styles. You will find one that works well.

Mine is called a bolero but doesn't really look like a traditional bolero. It's basically the whole lace overlay/sleeves and buttons up the back. I would shop around with your dress, even if your designer doesn't make one I'm sure you can find one to complement the dress. Also, try to keep an open mind. There are so many bridal cover up options these days, it doesn't have to just be a jacket.

My dress is Maggie Sottero's Lorie and I got a lace bolero from DB for just under $100. I really wanted a full lace back, but couldn't afford a gown I liked with one. I only plan to wear the bolero for the ceremony to help cover my back full of tattoos, mainly to appease some family members that don't care for my tattoos. It doesn't match exactly, so that is why I won't be wearing it all day. The lace is very similar, though cheaper quality and the shade of white is a bit off, but it was a nice cheap fix to get some extra coverage for the ceremony, and I don't think it will be too noticeable that it is not the exact same thing.

Edit: I was going to add a pic, but it seems they don't carry the one I have anymore.

That was exactly my concern when I was looking for a matching bolero for my dress. I ended up getting the one the boutique I bought my dress in had me wear. I loved it! Even if it's not the same, everyone told me no one will notice especially when it's altered to fit me. The picture is my dress with the bolero. (It's huge on me so it will look better with the dress. I will have to have a belt or a sash similar to the one in the picture.

ETA: My dress is Stella York. Im not sure the designer of the bolero.
