To Fake Flower or Not To Fake Flower - that is the question!

Rebecca, on April 9, 2021 at 11:03 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

Our answer: FAKE

Flowers are PRICEY. And often limited to the season, budget, or allergies. When we went looking into flowers, we ran up against a massive budget issue... and the small problem that most flowers make my father sneeze uncontrollably.

So, we went with fake flowers!

We saved *so* much money, could choose any color we wanted, and could put together our centerpieces weeks and weeks ahead of time!

We chose Budget Bride - a small but mighty online company. I cannot recommend them enough - super helpful and kind.

Here are some of our flowers:

    Hello Rebecca.

    Your fake flowers are BEAUTIFUL!

I totally agree, flowers are pricey! My FW looooooooves flowers but she made it clear that she doesn't want us to spend $5k on them for a 6-7 h event, neither do I.
I read somewhere that the average cost of wedding flowers in **** was about $2,000-$2,500. I DO respect this but this is not our cup of tea.

So: we are considering fake flowers for my boutonniere and corsages for my best woman and my groomswoman. But we might skip these altogether. We also made 2 decisions. Here is our non-floral centerpieces:

And we're going with a "minimalist" arch/ring decor that doesn't look like a botanical garden or a jungle!! similar to these but with fake flowers:

In fact, the only fresh flowers we're doing:will be in my bride's and the

bridesmaid's bouquets (we're only having 1 bridesmaid in our wedding party).

We have yet to book a florist because we are 12 months,6 days away.

Totally agree 100% your flowers turned out beautiful we are doing all fake flowers. I wanted to do mine as real but I wanted to have them put in resin but I was worried about shipping them and something happening in between. So I made my own too. The boutonnieres and corsages I got on Amazon and updated them to go more with my theme. The smaller bouquet I got at AC Moore when they were closing I got a great deal and went on Amazon and ordered a deep red rose color roses to add to match my wedding colors. I wish I had a better picture of them I wrapped twine around and put a lace ribbon in a bow on it. I also made a cheap but very nice ring box. I spent $1 on and made my own ring pillow out of the lace. I also went to the dollar tree last year my wedding is in fall and I made these signs. For my bouquet I have wooden flowers. I went to a bridal show loved the bouquet and the lady said she would give me a great deal. For my bridesmaids I'm just doing fake silk flowers. I didn't want to spend a lot on there's cuz I know they will just throw them away afterwards.

We're skipping the bridal party, so we really only need flowers for my bouquet, the ceremony arch and centerpieces. It also helps that our theme is simple, natural and elegant, so we're sticking to mostly greenery and some white flowers. Keeping things so simple has made it possible for us to get real flowers, but I imagine it'd be way out of budget with a large bridal party or a more elaborate style.

The venue we’re looking at has an all inclusive deal with dj, photography, transportation and flowers included for a really great price. so we’ll be doing really flowers if we go with that venue for myself, the wedding party and the centerpieces (what the deal comes with) and adding fake flowers throughout to make things pop more if we’re allowed! I have bad allergies but not usually go flowers, more to like trees and bushes, so I’m hoping I’m okay haha.

We used a mix of both. The bouquets, bouts, and corsages were all real. The centerpieces/decor were a mix of real and fake. My brother's wife is a florist, so I got the hook-up. Otherwise, I would've had gone far more simple because floral prices made my hair stand on end lol.

We are doing both. All the personal flowers are fake, and ceremony and reception flowers are real.

I am just personally a sucker for real flowers, so our wedding featured all real flowers and our vow renewal will, as well. We'll be donating them afterwards.

We have no attendants, so the only personal flowers will be my bouquet, his boutonniere, and a nice corsage for my mom.

We did a mix. First I wanted to do all faux but I am glad I changed my mind.

We didn't have a bridal party. My bouquet was real and made by a friend. Centerpieces were real flowers as well. I assembled them two days before the wedding. We had bud vases. The flowers on the cake were real, too. And I bought a bunch of baby's breath for the aisle. We bought all fresh flowers from a wholesale two days before the wedding and paid less than 200. It took me about two hours to assemble the centerpieces.

The arch and the cake stand decorations were faux flowers. I didn't pay for those, so no idea how much they cost. But I doubt they were (much) cheaper than real flowers. We opted for faux because they can be re-used and we could pre-arrange them a while before.

In a world were money would not have been an issue, I might have chosen different flowers but for us and our wedding this was perfect and I thought it was very beautiful. The fresh and the faux flowers matched perfectly.
The bouqet didn't come out exactly as I wanted and especially looking at pictures, I wish it had been bigger. But I am still really grateful for the friend who paid for and arranged my bouqet and I did like it and I wanted something on the smaller side and simple.
We're still waiting for our pro photos but here is an idea.

We're using fake ones. I adore flowers but they're so pricey and my best friend/MOH is allergic so I didn't want her to have any discomfort holding my bouquet. I got ours from Ling's Moment. So far just my bouquet and the bridesmaids' bouquets but I plan on getting our corsages, centerpieces, boutonnières and such from there as well.
