To do the garter/bouquet toss or to not

Teresa, on July 7, 2019 at 10:40 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 21
So I am really struggling as to if I should do it or not. I think its fun and so funny to watch whenever I am at a wedding. Yeah its a little awkward but I think I can suck it up for the 5 seconds it will happen. LOL. However, I don't have a lot of single people at the wedding... I can't decide if it is worth it or not. And the toughest part.. SONGS. I really don't want to have to choose about 4 different songs. So can I use 2 and just continue the music??

I think the garter toss is super cringey, but if you want to do it, go for it. I’m not sure why you’d need 4 songs in the first place.

Why would you need 4 songs? We won’t do it because I’m not a huge fan. We also only have 2 unmarried females (over 12 years old) and I think 6 single males on our guest list, so it seems pointless.

We aren’t doing either. We don’t have many single people attending our wedding and it can get awkward with the garter retrieval lol. I’ll still wear a garter though. This also allows for more time on the dance floor uninterrupted.

I always HATED this when I was single. It’s like, thanks for bringing attention to the fact I STILL haven’t found the one and feel like a loser. If you don’t have a lot of single ladies, you may want to consider skipping it. But if you’re determined, have your DJ do this quickly—parts of 1-2 songs is fine.

You could always just toss the bouquet to the longest married couple. I asked My fh about the garter. He wants to do it and due to that it will happen. There are few things he wants for the wedding. Maybe ask your fh about that?

This has always been my least favorite part of a wedding when I was single. We don’t have many single people at our wedding and I don’t want my FH going up my dress in front of all our family and friends so we will be skipping it

When I was single it broke my heart and was so humiliating for people to egg me on to do the bouquet toss and I refused to go up. I will not put anyone else through that so I’m not doing the bouquet toss or the garter toss either bc I don’t need my husband under my dress in front of my father. But I know a lot of people like the tradition. You will only need one song for each one.

If ur tossing the boquete I would do a garter toss so that the men feel included but if ur not tossing the boquete I wouldn't worry about the garter

We aren’t doing either. Garter toss is kind of creepy, having your husband go up your dress in front of family. And bouquet toss is just weird having single women fight over flowers. But, it’s your wedding and you should do what you like. I definitely don’t think you need 4 songs though.

I also cringe unless I have had my fair share of cocktails. If you don't have many single friends, please reconsider. We will only have 4-5 single females at our wedding. I can't imagine doing that to them. It also saves money and time. No need for a throwing bouquet/garter. Just have fun on that dance floor!

We will have almost no single/not coupled people at our wedding. We will not do either the bouquet or garter toss. Truthfully even we had 100 singles at our wedding, I still wouldn’t do either. Husband head first in my dress in front of family? Hard no. Singling our all my single friends, and showcasing my lack of ability to throw things? Also nope.

My 26 y/o daughter asked her 6 bridesmaids and they all thought it would be fun.

And even though they seem to go to 2-3 weddings a year, none of them had seen it done before accept in movies! lol

We are not doing it. Most of our guests are either married, engaged, or have been in relationships for overn2 years. I think we have legitimately 6 single people coming to the wedding. Plus, it's just not us. We are doing the first dances and parent dances and then its party time!

We arent doing either. Garter tosses are so old school and very cringy and uncomfortable. Ive never been to a wedding that did this.
Also boquet tosses are old school as well. We wont be doing this either, the only single people at our wedding will be like 4 guys, not including kids. So its a waste for us.

4 songs is definitely overdoing it...

I really am not a huge fan of the garter toss as it is. Any time I had to stand up there I would clasp my hands behind my back.. I can't stand being forced to have a random guy touch me in a room food of people finding it funny. It's even worse the less single people there are!

We're not doing it mostly because we're the last of our friends to get married. Smiley xd

We’re not doing either one!! We’re having couples instead dance on the floor until we have the longest married couple left on the floor. We will then present the couple with my toss bouquet. They will also give us advice on a long marriage.

We aren't doing the bouquet toss because I want to keep my flowers, and I think it's a little awkward. We ARE doing the garter toss because FH really wants to, and our friends and family are the type that will encourage it and laugh. He's doing it to "Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC.

We didn't do either. I hate the garter thing at weddings - it's uncomfortable to watch and there was no way in h**l I was doing it at mine.
