To do or not to do on a cruise

Haley, on December 30, 2019 at 10:32 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14

Ok so we decided on going on a cruise for our after wedding honeymoon. We choose carnival ecstasy and we are trying to figure our if we should purchase the drinking package or not? Its around 50$ a person per day and we are going on a 5 days cruise. What do you all think? Have you gotten it before? Is it worth it?

Are you guys big drinkers? I did the drink package on one of my cruises because it was discounted and we saved money after our second drink each day. Each drink on the boat is probably $8+ so do the math and figure out if it’s worth it for you

I certainly didn’t spend $50 a day on drinks so it wasn’t worth it to me, but I would just decide if you think you’ll have 5ish drinks a day. That includes departure day and returning day.

My husband and I aren't huge drinkers, but we also didn't want all of the drinks to add up and surprise us in the end.

We got the drink package and I think we got good use out of it.

If you have it in your budget, I say do it.

We got the drink package. it includes not only alcohol but coffees, sodas, teas, etc. I don't want to think about money while I'm on my honeymoon.

I've been on 5 cruises and I've never gotten the package. The last one I went on was with my fiance and we are drinkers. We were fine for that vacation, but if it were my honeymoon, i know we would get the drinking package. It's nice to not worry about it and not have a giant invoice in your cabin afterwards haha. ENJOY! i love cruising so much!! any other cruise advice you need, lemme know Smiley smile

The drink package can be very beneficial! Remember you'll be on vacation, you're not driving anywhere, and everyone else who's on a cruise is most likely on vacation too, so everyone's just having fun!

You will also be allowed to bring 2 bottles of wine or champagne on your cruise so factor that in.

On our last cruise, we didn't do the package. We had one bottle of wine and one bottle of champagne that we brought on board. We had a few drinks in Mexico for really cheap. We had a few drinks on the ship, and we won a bottle of champagne the last night when my FH did a silly dance competition.

I'd say buy it, but also do it responsibly - don't think you have to drink in excess just because you bought the package, or don't think you have to drink every day either. I think buying the package just takes the pressure off of worrying about paying for alcohol.

And remember, Carnival has a 15 drink limit on this package, which is a lot for some, and for others it's nothing. Depends on your tolerance. Personally I couldn't do that much alcohol in a day, but I know people who would laugh at this limit. *shrug*

I've been on all carnival, different ship each time. princess cays is a private island owned by carnival, i've never been there, but nassau i've been to a couple times. any dolphin one is going to be cool. i loved ours. i've heard AMAZING things about the sea turtle one. my favorite was the catamaran sailing and "scuba". you get on the boat, they take you out to snorkel and enjoy the marine life, you get some rum punch included, the workers are typically super fun. it's just a party. otherwise the atlantis is the most popular, (i've never done it because i typically don't like being around that many people lol)
