To do my own makeup or hire?

For me, it wasn't an option to do my own. I am no where near as good as professionals and certainly can't put on fake eyelashes! So from the beginning I knew my HAMU would be professionally done.

I'm good with my every day makeup, but I'm not familiar with all the ins and outs of makeup that photographs well, so doing my own wedding day makeup was never an option for me.

I am no hair and makeup expert, so for me it was a no brained to have it professionally done. I am
now married and I would encourage anyone to have it professionally done. On my wedding day I had so many nerves and excitement that my hands were literally shaking. I could not imagine being in the emotional state I was and still trying to do my own hair and makeup. I would not have been able to do it! Unless you’re someone that loves to do your own makeup and finds it calming, I would say hire a professional. One less thing to worry about.

I'm planning to do my own makeup as well This is partly because of saving money, but also because I feel confident in my skills and style. I've heard so many horror stories about brides who pay someone, and they either don't feel like themselves or the makeup turns out less than stellar. I would say to just practice a ton and do some photo trials to ensure it photographs well!

So I just looked at your profile and it seems you know how to do what you like. So I'd suggest practicing with what you're unfamiliar with.

Based in your profile picture, I feel like you could definitely rock doing your own makeup! If you already have high quality products, it could be a good way to save money!

It was an option to have makeup done and sometimes it's nice to just not have to worry about these things but I prefer to do most things by myself. I know my preferences both with colours, products, etc. If you are unsure about doing it yourself for the wedding, take some time to do test runs, try different techniques, etc.

Even though I love doing my own makeup, I want to be pampered so I'm having it done professionally.
