To Crown or Not to Crown?

Arlene, on April 20, 2021 at 4:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
I am obsessed with the idea of wearing a Crown for my wedding. My groom would like to wear one too which I'm good with as long as it doesn't look tacky like a costume. What do you all think?

I’m wearing a tiara for my wedding day. I don’t see a problem with it at all it’s the one day you can do whatever you want and look however you want so do it.

    Thank you!
I tell him he's my Greek demigod so it's only fitting he has an emperor's crown!
His mother hates it and asked if this was for Halloween and not a winter wedding...😤😡😠🤬

This day is so much about what you want and would like.

    Would I wear one? No.

Do I support other people doing whatever makes them happy and brings them joy? Absolutely! Go for it!

Do what makes your heart happy! It's your day and celebration. I've never seen the groom wear one, but I think it'll have such regal vibes with both of you wearing them!

Yes! I am wearing a crown and we toyed with the idea of my husband wearing one but decided not to. But his friend who is getting married a few months after us are renting these super regal crowns and then some really cool thrones for it too.

Crowns are not created equally – there are some really low quality options out there, and other options which are bespoke and even with cubic zirconia look amazing. I highly recommend looking at some well known brands for a crown (my recommendations are Roman and French, or Maria Elena Headpieces).

If you have any, I would strongly suggest trying some on if you have any boutiques near you that sell/hire crowns. I fell in love with a crown and when I tried it on I realised it didn’t suit me or the dress and ended up picking something completely different!

I love this idea! It's your day and it's only right that the two of you feel special in whatever you choose to wear.

Go for it if that is what you and your FH want! His mother can scoff all she likes, so long as the two of you are happy with it.

I am considering wearing a tiara since it would fit right in with the hairstyle I already have planned. My FH doesn't want to know a single thing about my wedding day look ahead of time so it would be hard to ask if he wants to wear a crown without telling him what I am thinking of for myself.

I agree with Rosie on this one! Also, on the Netflix show "Say I Do," I remember an episode where both the bride and the groom wore capes, and it was amazing! So personalized, so unique to them, and they were absolutely gorgeous and beaming! Not exactly answering your question, I guess, but the question about a groom wearing a crown and going for a more regal look reminded me of the episode with Nikko & Amber!

Definitely not for me, but if you and your fiance both love the idea, do it! The day is about you two!

Yeah I wanted to keep my entire look a suprise but his mother started acting up so I had to tell him. So I'm upset about that.

Thank you! I'll check it out!
I was actually planning on wearing a cape so when his mother said his crown wouldn't match anything in the wedding I'm thinking to myself fool, you wouldn't know because I haven't told you anything other than winter wonderland!

That stinks but you made the right call. Better to have him on your side than try and deal with his mother on your own.

I have a hard time standing up for myself when it comes to dealing with elders so I tend to just shut down but he was great!
