To Buy.... Or Not To Buy....

Bulbasaur, on June 21, 2020 at 11:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

I will be the MOH for my friend's wedding coming up, and she just gave us parameters for our gowns. She told us she will cover the costs for our dresses, but I have one that meets the requirements perfectly that I wore in another friend's wedding a few years ago. I'm wondering if it's rude for me to use my own dress when a new one is being offered. I'm probably over-thinking and should just talk to her, but I wanted to know your thoughts. Thanks!

I think it would be nice to ask her since that’s pretty convenient and saves her money especially she might like it too

You’re saving her money. I don’t see the harm in asking.

If it meets the requirements, I don't see it being a problem and less money she has to spend. Double check with her just in case.

I’d definitely ask her. It wouldn’t hurt that’s for sure. It would not only save money, but also be less space being taken up in your closet/storage for dresses you really only wear once.

Ask her and be sure to send some photos of the dress! Rewearing one you already have would be great! It saves money, there’s likely no need for alterations, and there’s no questioning what it will actually look like in person or when it’ll arrive.

I totally agree with previous posters, I think you’re doing the bride a favour if anything! Check with her that she’s ok with it but I’m sure it’ll be fine.

I would just definitely ask if and make sure she's good with it. Otherwise, I really don't see a problem with it. You could suggest different shoes, accessories to make it "different" than the previous wedding.

Talk to the bride. If I was the bride and the dress is like what I wanted the girls to wear, I would be super happy that you save me money.

Sounds like a perfect idea to wear a dress that you already have.

If she's paying for the dress she wants to see u in why wear one you already wore to someone else's wedding. Remember it's her day so talk to her about it!!!

I would just talk to the bride. That is so generous of her to cover the cost of the dresses- I've honestly never seen that before.

I, personally, wouldn't mind if one of my BMs wore a dress from a previous wedding. My MOH is actually the MOH in another wedding the weekend before mine (poor gal!)- the wedding colors are exactly the same but the other bride chose navy as her BMs dress color and I chose burgundy...so she had to buy two different dresses. Had I chosen navy I literally wouldn't have cared if she rewore the dress!

So, yeah, just talk to her!

I would ask her, but I can't imagine her having a problem with you saving her money lol. My bridesmaid's prom dress actually was like the exact same color as our bridesmaid dresses and I was fine with her wearing that (she didn't end up wearing it because she realized she had actually sold it years ago lol, but originally when she asked if she could i was like sure as long as it matches the color of the swatch, i dont care...)
