To Bustle or not to Bustle?

Katie, on February 14, 2024 at 2:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 2

To Bustle or not to Bustle? 1 Basically giving myself 3 options: Bustle, No Bustle or different Reception Dress. I got this dress for a steal, so getting another dress to dance in isn't a big deal financially. But I also am not overly worried about it being stepped on or getting a little dirty.
I don't love the look of bustles, but trying to keep an open mind. Anybody else have a similar train length and left it down to dance in??

The bustle is not really for looks. People won't be focused on that during the reception.

One bride, Joanna, had a longer train and just used a loop on the end in a few instances -- like going across the lawn for pictures. The first dance could be with the train without any problems. You might not get much dancing if you are visiting lots of guests, but if you will be dancing much, that might be easier with a bustle. It might be the same cost and changing time to have a different dress if you need it. Still, a loop at the end could be sufficient and save you the cost.

I also don't love the look of bustles, but ended up finding a seamstress who did an under bustle for my dress! You couldn't tell that the train on the dress even existed, since it was secured under the dress instead of on top of it.

This isn't my photo (or me or my dress in the photo), but I found it on Pinterest, and it shows what an under bustle looks like. Looking at your dress, I think it would work (though check with a seamstress first)!
