To All The Brides Postponing... What are your plans now?

Emly, on April 13, 2020 at 12:17 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6

We have officially announced that we had to make the heartbreaking decision to postpone our wedding. Now things are completely up in the air! Our venue only has two dates left and they both are on holidays- just not an option for us to have a wedding either of those days. We have also tossed around the idea of getting married on our original day anyway and have a reception later - but what does this look like?? All of our guest are so excited to see a full blown wedding, but with the world in the state its in will it even be likly that we would find another date this year at all? Ahh im just kindof lost lol.

What are you other corona brides doing??

I’m getting married on the original date and doing a vow renewal next year. That way my guests will still have the full wedding experience but we also can still be husband and wife!

We're going to the courthouse and getting married as close to our original date as we can once they re-open (all but essential services are closed here), followed by pictures of FH and I in our wedding outfits in the park. Then later in the summer or fall we're planning to host a celebration of our marriage with our local guests. It'll probably be just a brunch or dinner, at a smaller scale than our original reception, but I think everyone's still going to be excited to celebrate with us and probably even celebrate the return to normal (or whatever the new normal is then)

We talked about doing a vow renewal next year, or even postponing the full wedding to later this year, but after all this stress neither one of us felt like re-planning a bigger event. We also originally discussed going to the courthouse at one point before planning a smaller wedding before the coronavirus affected us. Our smaller wedding grew bigger (as these things do) so we're trying to look on the bright side and joke that fate decided we needed a smaller wedding

We eloped on our day with a good friend and zoom, and we currently have our bigger wedding planned for August. We got lucky in that I pulled the plug very early and we got a Saturday in August. Maybe you could cut your guest list and go forward with your date? Just have it be immediate family and stream it for everyone? It's not ideal, but the most important part is your marriage.

We've postponed from April to August. We're still having a small ceremony with us, the officiant, and our brothers as witnesses on our original date (this Saturday!). It wont be so much of a ceremony as the legal process of marrying us and luckily we already had the license. And then in August we will still be having the ceremony and reception. We are still doing all of it later so that all of our family and friends can still be a part of everything when it feels safer. Plus I still want all those big bridal moments.

    Hi Emly,

I'm sorry you are going through this. I am loving some of the suggestion above!

I personally love the idea of doing a small wedding on you original date and having a large reception once things begin to clear up.

I wish you the best of luck. oG6xfPxhl22aqdvrsPVmmW6aSC1fsJJ1eVnkqYBF My fingers are crossed for you!
