To add straps or no??

Brittany, on December 10, 2019 at 10:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

I found my dress and I LOVE it! I was completely committed to adding spaghetti straps to it (just for peace of mind so I knew it wouldn’t go anywhere), but the more I look at the photos of it on me now I am second guessing. Thoughts? Do I add or just go with it as is? How secure are strapless dresses really once they’re correctly altered?

I think straps would be beautiful and help keep the dress up! At my cousins wedding this last year her zipper broke on her dress and her was strapless, the entire reception she was trying to pull it up and keep the safety pin together. I don't think adding the straps will take anything away from the dress.

Thin rhinestone straps (if at all). But not needed.

Most strapless dresses are pretty secure if they fit right. I don’t think yours needs it.

I'm always a fan of straps, just for an ease of mind. But then again, I never wore a strapless wedding dress. It's a beautiful dress btw!!

I don't think that straps will be necessary especially with that cut of the bodice. If you are concerned about anything moving then I would suggest wearing a bustier underneath that will definitely help the girls in place.

It really depends on how your dress fits you. It looks like a similar structure to mine, where the bodice is very structured, sits on your hips, and holds itself up. So I don’t need straps.
Yours seems pretty structured but if you’re worried about it, you could always add straps and that would look pretty.

I like strapless dresses so I wouldn't add strapless. As long as the dress properly fits you there shouldn't be any issues.

I think once it fits you I think you will be fine. A bustier will also help you feel confident.

I prefer straps to keep my mind at peace but I’ve had several friends wear strapless dresses and it was secure.

I honestly love the strapless look on you! And I think the straps might take away from that. Once altered, I don't think you'll have any issue! They fit really nice and tight and won't go anywhere. But, if you're still not sure, you could have alterations put removable straps on so that they're there just in case!

Could you ask your seamstress if she could do removable straps? Maybe have them secured with a button or something? That way you can make the decision day of based on how you're feeling and how the dress fits.

I personally love straps because I worry about staying secure also. I tried on a strapless dress and they said they could make the removable so if I wanted strapless for the ceremony I could and then just pop the straps on for the reception. I didn’t go with that dress but I did love the idea.

The sweetheart shape of the bodice looks better without straps

This is what I was going to say! I’m adding flutter sleeves because I’ve always wanted them, but I’m gonna do removable ones in case I change my mind and just want to keep the strapless. I think that would be a perfect solution for you!
