Tips!!!

Emily, on April 5, 2021 at 3:42 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
Hi everyone! June 2021 bride here- well, already was married last June as planned but finally having my wedding in Outer Banks, NC in June! My question for y’all is who to tip and how much? My venue already has a 22% gratuity figured into our overall price, but I wanted to give extra to the people who really have helped me through covid. No doubt about my wedding planner, as she’s awesome and obviously will be giving my hair/makeup stylist a big tip too. My question lies for my florist and photographer, as they both own their own businesses. Is a gift okay or does it need to be monetary? I’m finding that there are like 10 people to potentially tip and that’s adding a lot of extra money spent on top of the already 20k for a wedding with 20 guests. Thanks so much!!!

We tipped everyone who provided a service to us. The standard is 20%, however for our vendors who own their own business, we did closer to 10%.

I'll be tipping our venue coordinator directly that night along with the bartenders, dessert delivery person and DJ (if it's not the owner). Everyone else will get a heartfelt thank you card along with a tip in their card so they can't refuse it lol. The caterer has their gratuity included so I'm not worried about them.

Do not tip anyone the day of the wedding. Wait until you come back from your honeymoon and have an objective mindset so you can determine what the quality of service was. Only tip those who went above and beyond the call of duty. No shows, bad service and simply doing their job with nothing spectacular to show for it do not get tips.
