Help! When tipping at your wedding... If the person is the owner of the business do you tip them? Like the photographer he’s the owner so do I only tip his assistant? Same with hair and makeup I’m using two ladies who co-own do I tip them?

Owning a business is irrelevant. If you feel they deserve a tip, then give them one. The caterer includes it automatically as gratuity. Servers and bartenders are paid hourly so they don’t need tips. Be specific with a note on who they go to so there is no confusion. However, wait until after the wedding when you are not on cloud 9 so you can assess the service. Only tip those who went above and beyond.

You tip everyone. If they own their own the business or are an employee makes no difference.

In the wedding planning book I have, it says you're not obligated to tip business owners.

Business owners don't expect a tip, but you should tip anyone who provides you with a service to show your appreciation, in my opinion. I've used this site as a guideline for tips: https://www.herecomestheguide.com/wedding-ideas/tip-wedding-vendors

I also tipped based on service - regardless of whether or not they were the business owner!
