Tips to keep from crying during the ceremony

Shameeka, on August 20, 2019 at 7:02 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
Ladies, I need your help!!!! I do not want to cry as I want down the aisle. I do not have a princess cry. I have more of an Orger cry.. In addition I hired a celebrity make up artist so I do not want to mess up my make up... what do I do? Should I look at the Officiant’s??? What can I concentrate on, I know not to look at the guest or FH... help ! My wedding is this Friday and this just happens to be what I’m stressing over today😂😂😂🙈. I listened to my wedding song a million times trying to desensitize my emotions. It’s this normal or am I going coo coo days before?

Totally normal! I would say try not to worry about crying. Look at your FH! Your union is what the whole day is about.. Ugly crying or not, I don't want to try to lessen that moment by trying not to feel it. I know I will be balling at my ceremony, but those close to me know I'm a crier so it'll be nothing new haha.

Could you get your makeup artist to stick around for a touch up after the ceremony? Maybe ask your FH to hold onto a tissue in his pocket for you during the ceremony if needed.

Normal! I've been desensitizing myself (I also have an ogre cry face) by watching try not to cry videos on youtube. And emotional ceremonies, and emotional first looks, and all the things that hit me in the feels. Binge those! It helps! Also, there's a trick i use when it's not super hard to control the tears. 5 things i can see. (I usually get more specific like, 5 different colors i can see), 4 things i can smell (flowers, grandma's perfume, my perfume, wet dog? Ugh!, oh someone forgot their deodorant!), 3 things I can feel (my feet hurt....oh the fabric of this dress is nice!, oh god so much makeup!), 2 things i can hear (oohhs and ahhs!!!, oh whispers!! What are they saying??), 1 thing I can taste (hopefully mouthwash or a mint and not breakfast 😂😂😂) that helps when I'm having a rough time with the videos. It's okay to look around! Just smile and try not to think about not crying. Changing whatever you're focusing on helps too! Good luck!!!

False lashes (over mascara) help! 😊 If you’re having an escort (father, brother, etc) ask them to help keep it light as your walking down the aisle. Ask your officiant and MOH to stash some tissues somewhere (pocket, bouquet) in case you need it. Listen to your ceremony music a lot. Read your ceremony script and vows a lot. Visualize it all and focus on your happiness that it’s happening.

But to be honest, those emotional moments make the very best photos and videos of your day.

Absolutely look at your fiancé! It is the MOST amazing moment. I listened to the song I was walking down the aisle to a million times until it didn’t make me so emotional and we read our private vows to each other the night before, which made both of us calm down and hold it together better the day of. I’ve also heard a first look can help a lot!

For me, I don't know if there's a way to stop crying. I think once I'm walking down the aisle, it will be extremely hard for me not to cry. My FH and I have been through SO MUCH together. So much. And for us to be getting married, me walking down the aisle in his arms just feels... like I'm getting tears in my eyes just thinking about it. I saw a previous post that you've gotten married already? So did you cry? LOL! All the bestSmiley heart

When I saw his smile, it made me smile. I was nervous. Everything else was a blur. I couldn’t tell you who was who. all I saw was hubby.. I teared up while repeating my vows..I’m glad with opt to repeat after the pastor❤️. My make up stayed in place.
