Tips to break in wedding shoes!

Paola, on August 26, 2020 at 9:13 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
I just got these shoes in the mail for my wedding in October. I was looking for cute but comfortable shoes. I specifically got these because they had great reviews and most people said they were super comfortable and could wear them all night long! Well... I wore them around the house for a couple of hours the other day, and I had to rip them off my feet! They hurt! I know I just need to break them in. Any tips on how to break in shoes besides wearing them a lot before the big day? Tips to break in wedding shoes! 1

Beautiful shoes, but I can see how they would make your feet hurt, the incline of the heel is quite dramatic. And the balls of your feet have very little cushion. You could try to buy sole protectors which would add a small level of protection and cushion. This could make the a little more comfy. Or is it the minimalist strap cutting in? If that's the case, not much to change that.

The only thing you can really do is walk around the house (maybe on carpet) to keep working the comfort zone.

It really depends on where they are hurting you. If it the balls of your feet, the only option would be a stick on cushion pad. You can get them just for the balls of your feet.

If the straps are tight, wear the shoes with thickish socks to help stretch them out around your toes. They are cute, but they look a bit like ouchy shoes

New shoes should *never* hurt. That means they don't fit your feet. And no amount of breaking them in around the house will remedy that. What part specifically is painful? Did you try them on in the store first?

People are saying they're comfortable because of the thick, chunky heel. If you're used to wearing high heels and you can tolerate fast fashion brand shoes, then these would be a winner. The straps help your feet from sliding out. An insert for a bit of cushion, and you're good to go.

However, it sounds like you're not used to these types of shoes. If you don't wear heels a lot, I caution you to avoid shoes from places like Lulus, Forever 21, Fashion Nova, and other fast fashion stores. The soles are generally cheaply made and not comfortable for long periods. They're good "look cute" shoes for when you'll be seated for most of the wear. If you're still in the return window, send them back. Look for stores with free returns. Also don't go higher than 2.5 inch heels if you're not used to wearing them.

Otherwise, walking around in them whenever you get a chance is the best way to break in strappy heels. Wear them to sweep and vaccum, practice going up and down stairs if you have them in your home, and wear them while watching tv just so your feet get used to the incline. Good luck!

Honestly I’d look for another pair with a less steep arch to the foot/lower heel. It’s likely putting a lot of pressure on the ball of your foot.

I recommend you loom for a different size or a different shoe. Preferably one you can try on in the store first.

Wear them with socks around the house for a couple hours/day. The socks will help you not get blisters while they get worn in a bit.

These are really pretty!! Well, there are a couple of options. One option is to buy another pair that you find more comfortable. The second option is to maybe get some flats or something that will help your feet after not wanting to wear the heel all day. The third option is to get a wedge thing that may help alleviate the pain in the area that is affected. The fourth option that if it's only just "breaking" them in is to wear socks with them then wear them around or wear socks and put your hairdryer to them to get them to expand while in the socks.

Thank you! I’m planning on changing into chucks later in the night, but I wanted to wear them for as long as possible. Thank you!

Thank you! You’re spot on. I live on the beach, so I don’t wear heels often at all. So maybe I do need to try to find a new pair.

This. Things like accessories are ok to buy online without trying on first but shoes you can't really do that with unless you are replacing a worn out existing pair. Because everyone's feet are so different.
Plus some manufacturers haveir own sizing so you can fit great in sizeX by one brand/type but need sizeZ or sizeBanana in another.
